This video shows how much history you have w the brand and your knowledge of the lineup. Cool insights. I think Fuji does best when they lean into the smaller cameras

Thanks for watching! I’ve been testing Fujifilm cameras for over a decade. It’s been fun. I think it’s time to bring back the smaller cameras for sure.

Thanks for including Fujifilm cameras, we can't all budget for Leica and Apple.

Thanks, I love both brands, it just comes down to access. It’s easier to access Leica gear here in Vancouver, but hopefully that will change.

Great first look! You're really twisting my arm to jump back into Fujifilm with this vid.

Ha ha, well if you’re mostly a stills shooter, I think the options are still pretty thin for Fujifilm. X-Pro3 (but it’s getting a bit old), X-T5, and the X100VI. These are the cameras I recommend if you’re primarily stills.
@Kohai8214 күн бұрын
@bigheadtaco I really wanted to get into X-pro3, so I got myself Dura Silver version. But somehow I felt uncomfortable using it. Weird of me.

@ naw we all have different preferences. For me it would be cool if Fujifilm and Leica collaborated on a camera. I know they have with Instax and Sofort, but I would love to see Leica and Fujifilm work on a GFX camera together.

it is the new Ricoh GR III. But what most of us need is a XE5 with Ibis, 40MPs und good evf so we can use interchangeable lenses-this would beat the 100VI.

Agree, the XM5 is brilliant, esp. to draw a very important younger audience to the brand. If Fuji were to give us an updated XF 18mm f2... on this body? Maybe with an optical viewfinder on top? Sign me up!

Enough with the entry cameras Fuji! Where is the X pro 5?
@bigheadtaco14 күн бұрын
My guess is that they’re gonna skip this 5th generation sensor and processor. It’s so late in the game. I don’t mind waiting if the new X-Pro will launch the 6th generation sensor and processor, instead of it being one of the last cameras to get the 5th generation sensor and processor. X-Pro6 is my guess. I’m the biggest X-Pro fan but I personally don’t want to see the same sensor and processor combo in the X-Pro4 that I already see in the X100VI and X-T50.

It’s where the market is at the moment, the crowd are requesting small, fun, good looking cameras. The xpro was the best line in my mind when I had it. I’ve tried the x100 but never liked the ergonomics, just changing the aperture on the lens is fiddly to me, but I get the appeal. The xpro, x100 and xt1 ( size / weight / look) has always been the best from Fuji, I don’t care for the others they have made sadly.

I wonder if Fujifilm is ever going to update the X70. I also wonder if it’s possible to make the X70 thinner and still keep the articulating screen.

I hope they bring it back since point and shoots are back. We need more than just the X100 series. X80 and X40 would be great.

Hi Tako. If open gate is 6.2k 3:2, I’m afraid there is no Digital Image Stabilization. So if lens is not stabilized… nothing.

@@bigheadtaco lol no problem. I had to grab my X-M5 and make sure I couldn't turn it on. If you do figure out a way to turn on digital stabilization for 6.2k open, let me know lol
@bigheadtaco14 күн бұрын
@ it makes sense, since it’s open gate, there’s no room to digitally crop in and stabilize. I should have thought about it. I will do a separate vlogging video testing the X-M5 with the Sigma 10-18mm and just use the standard 4K 16:9 aspect ratio. Thanks for the correction, I really appreciate it!

I wish they didn't release the X-M5 as I liked my X-M1 being a one off camera in a line up. Oh well, the X-M1 may not have any of the modern features, at least it has the first generation sensor.
@bigheadtaco14 күн бұрын
Ha ha, ya the X-M1 was a great little camera. I never appreciated at the time, but looking back I realize it was the interchangeable lens version of the X70.
@stuartblink12 күн бұрын
I love my Voigtlander 18mm f2.8 pancake lens. The X-M5 could pair really well with it for an everyday compact carry.
@jmtphotographymedia14 күн бұрын
As an X70 and XS10 owner this interest me as a camera to consolidate with some compromises. As a vlog camera I would pair with my Samyang AF 12mm f2. For street my 18mm f2 / 27mm 2.8 WR. I'd lose IBIS and a viewfinder from XS10 and compactness of the X70. But I use my XS10 on a tripod most of the time for video.
@bigheadtaco14 күн бұрын
Ya those are all great lens options for the X-M5. I used the Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8 because that’s what I have :-) I also have the Viltrox 13mm f/1.4 but for this camera, I think the Sigma zoom worked out better for me.

What left is xpro 5 and xe 5, bring back the original trio of x-trans sensor
@cristibaluta14 күн бұрын
20:55 that's the problem with small cameras, you put a grip or case and make it bigger, when they could have made it bigger in the first place and add some useful things inside, and as a bonus maintain it beautiful
@bigheadtaco14 күн бұрын
I think having the option to put a grip is fine. For those who want it as compact as possible for whatever reason, it’s compact. For those who want a bit more grip, they can add. This camera is small, but for some, it might be just perfect.

I like my camera small. I put a small lanyard to prevent it from slipping. 😅

I wouldn’t mind giving this little camera a try. Personally I’d prefer the flip up back screen instead of the flip out style, but it seems they’re going for the vlogger market with this one….
@bigheadtaco14 күн бұрын
Agreed. As mostly a stills shooter, I want the normal articulating screen or at least flip up, since the microphones on this is pretty good. But as a content creator camera, it’s really good. An optional hotshoe EVF would have been cool, but I understand that Fujifilm weren’t interested in manufacturing another accessory that might not sell.

@contravisuals13 күн бұрын
IDK why people continue to say that IBIS and stab is not that important, lol check any video from osmo pocket 3 and you'll realize how trash the footage looks compared even to en iPhone... its completely unusable, you will not find a single vlogger who will use this for that type of videos (for steady shots it's more then fine for the price!) and, if you want to get into cinematic 6k picture on a budget, its a beast, on top to that it's good for photo!

@Abc198714 күн бұрын
Which Sony FF is smaller than this?
@bigheadtaco14 күн бұрын
Which 35mm Sony camera is smaller than the X-M1 that has similar features at the same price point? I think that’s the point with this camera. For what you get and at this price, the X-M5 is pretty special. The Sigma FP is probably the smallest 35mm sensor camera.

@@bigheadtaco Sony RX1R II is around the same size as this and full frame, though being rather old, doesn't have many of these newer features. It's an incredible camera though and hopefully one day they will make a successor as Fuji has to the X-M1.
@bigheadtaco11 күн бұрын
@ You’re right, the RX1 is a great camera, but it’s not interchangeable lens, which helps keep its compact size while still having that amazing 35mm f/2 Zeiss lens. It has a tiny point-and-shoot size battery and lots of compromises were made to make it that small, but it’s still a cool camera. Unfortunately Sony hasn’t done anything with it in almost 8 years, although it’s still considered an in-stock and new item. I hope they decide to update it and keep the series going.
