Perhaps folks prop open one of the arms because they do not trust that the stand is true/calibrated? Thoughts?

one of the other videos you say a mistake you see beginner mechanics do while truing a wheel is cranking down on the clamp of the truing stand. why is that a mistake?
@JoeyMesa2 күн бұрын
Cranking down on the knob that moves the fixture arms inward causes the arms to distort. This in turn causes the wheel to change its position between the calipers, making wheel to wheel dish inconsistent. The knob only needs to be tight enough to hold the wheel in place so it doesn’t move while adjusting spoke tension. I like to flip the wheel in the truing stand occasionally to get the dish dialed in, so having the wheel in a consistent position makes things much easier.

Joey - great video - Can I do the following based on what you show? Convert threaded to threaded, as long as it is all same diameter. If the bike uses 25.4mm (1") threaded steerer & headset parts >> convert to 25.4mm (1") threadless - by replacing the headset parts and then if needed change the stem & handlebar from there on up. For Xmas this year = I got 3x Ozone Shock Force 500 full suspension Xmas kids & petite Wifebikes in 20in, 24in and 26in, all using 25.4mm the steer tube diameter... So, finally found threadless 25.4mm diameter suspension forks to replace the stock Kent Bike spring coil forks... Would this this to work as you suggest or show?
@JoeyMesa5 күн бұрын
@@ForemanJF1 yes, it’s essentially the same process. The steerer tube on the threadless fork will be longer than needed, so it will have to be cut down. You’re going to need some 1” spacers to stack between the stem and the headset. I like to mock up the the new fork with the spacers and stem once the new headset has been installed. Once you find the height of the handlebars you like, you can cut the excess off the top of the steerer tube. Most modern stems are set up for 1 1/8” steerer tubes, but there are shims available to adapt a 1 1/8 stem to fit the 1” steerer tube. I think you’ll find you have way more options going this route, and you can run pretty much any handlebar available. Good luck!

0:08 Sram NX *DO NOT* install this way. There is a small rubber cover that lifts up and you thread the cable in through that. Whatever you do, DON'T start removing screws and taking plastic bits off the NX. If you do, there's a good chance you'll be ordering a new shifter in the near future.

Hi guys, I have purchased a seat similar to this one with seat guts. I want to put this seat onto a modern mountain bike. It appears as the original seat on my mountain bike doesn’t have seat guts and it put onto the seat post differently. Keep in my the seat post is adjusted by leaver. I took out the guts trying to figure out a different way to put it on. I couldn’t find another way. Then I forgot how to put it on. I ended up finding this video and at the end of putting the guts back on, I saw you put the seat onto a vintage bike in a different way than you would a normal mountain bike. My questions is… Can I put this seat I bought which is similar to yours with the seat guts onto my modern mountain bike? Is there away of doing it by taking the guts out? Are they just made for vintage bikes? I need help fast! Thanks guys.

What position should the H&L screws be in at the start of this set up? Or does it matter? Followed this video closely several times but unable to avoid chain rub and large cog not shifting smoothly. Wish there was a trouble shooting guide along the way. Had previously sent the bike twice for pro tuneups…both times returned with chain rub problems. Frustrating piece of gear.
