So what is so funny? I mean any of these commercials? The one with the VW driving into the sheet - okay I laughed. Still the fact remains those cars were special in truth. So the point of the commercial is mis-taken.

I was going to skip this video since I grew up in the 70s, but HAD to watch this because the I could tell that that was a VW in the thumbnail and all I drove from 1977 on into the 80s were VWs.

I remember some of these, but the one for Southern Airline had the most striking visual for me. The leg room! OMG! The Xerox commercial was one of my favorites of the day. It never got old.

REALLY, THEY WERE THE FUNNIEST COMMERCIALS ON US TV?

I remember every one of these. Alka Seltzer was a total boss back then, with a ton of memorable ads, "Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is." "I can't believe I ate the whole thing." That 'where's the beef' lady from Wendy's got famous overnight. We still have a ton of the jingles from those days locked in our brains.

Now we get singing, dancing and same sex couples.

Ads from so far from the 70s as 1962, 1984 and 1985 don't really belong in the title "funniest American commercials of the 70s", do they?

Before I ever watched TV, 1963 till 2024, and yet that all looked like today. To a surprising few details nothing is different, bad dance editing aside. Shirt, haircut, boxers, Greek lyre even a company name quite a spender of ad $$$ to this day! A little bit unexpected.

The name of the video is 14 funniest American commercials but in the beginning of the video, it reads "Patrick Collister's *15* funniest ads. Pick one. 14 or 15.

Patrick, thanks for posting these! However, some of them are definitely from the 80s. Man, that VW ad at the beginning was definitely hilarious! That Rebel car commercial and so many of these had me hooting for sure.

As a child of the 70's, I remember several of these quite well. Note the Pepsi commercial is voiced by Martin Sheen.

That had to be Simon Oakland as voice actor for the Fedex commercial.

It's no longer, _"Where's the beef?!"_ It's now, _"There's the beef, but I can't afford it."_ 😢

Oh yes just made me remember when my brother and I were playing we would stop and run to the living room to watch a certain commercial my mother's neighbor said her kids did the same thing . Not any more.
