I've seen this pattern too many times, I've been an Aupair twice and both of the families overworked me with cleaning and went into my off hours and when I questioned it they'd get really angry and say I disrespected them, and they would start a big confrontation threatening my job and scrutinize my personality. You are not alone this behaviour is very common and they manipulate you into feeling like you are the problem, I think if they were going to fire you they would just do it but instead, they drew it out because they wanted you to beg for your job back so they could get you to do whatever they want. You dodged a bullet trust me
