Awesome! Thanks for sharing. Maybe make up a few pans of some fruit cobblers, sourdough, pizza crust , even make your own pasta.

so as far as food ideas i love to cook and if you have frozen vegetables and meat you can make any kind of casserole. I follow a girl on here by the name of "acre homestead" she makes amazing casseroles and pastas, i made a chicken pot pie with cheddar cheese drop biscuits and i made a stuffed pepper casserole. so many great ideas on here

What kind of canned goods do you have? I used to make lots of different biscuits - blackberry, blueberry muffins. Homemade breads. Homemade pizza. Venison jerky. Pickled salmon (depending on your spices you have). You need to find your vitiman C sources. Do you have access to fresh veggies - example sea asparagus, maybe find chicken of the woods (tree fungus)? Concentrate on storing food properly because at the end of the season, freezer burnt food will lower your moral. Family fav for us when living there was beer battered fish and chips.

Sounds like a great day. Has anybody told you that you look like Elayna from sailing la vagabonde?

I remember being on my mom and dad's boat south of where you are. Dad said he was going to set out the crab trap and mom said something that sounded like maybe she didn't think it was a good idea. I asked her why and she said "Crab salad for lunch, crab cocktail before dinner, crab in your scrambled eggs for breakfast. You run out of recipes." I wasn't there long enough to have that experience and I don't have any of her recipes to share with you. Perhaps someone else has some recipes for you.

I'd want food and water on the boat. Puzzles are sorted by border and maybe color. Did you bring yeast for baking or what are your leavening agents? Have you noticed the days shortening? Carry on

We’ve been watching your videos for the last month and have been wondering why you brought so much fresh food with you. You told us today that you thought you’d like the preservation process. Just curious if there were other reasons you didn’t bring more pre-prepared, already-frozen food?
@Claysanabus2 сағат бұрын
Good question, we didn’t order the food. We didn’t have a lot of choice, we got to tell them what we liked but had no idea on the quantity we would get. There’s lots of frozen processed vegetables in the freezers but it didn’t feel right eating the frozen food when we have all this fresh food to eat or process. The communication was pretty limited.

What about applesauce or pear sauce? They freeze well. For baking, apple crisp or pear crisp or a combo is a favourite fall thing for me. Not complicated. Edges first for a puzzle, but will sort out obvious large areas like sky when sorting for edge pieces.

Nice job guys. Here is a few tips when on the boat. PAY attention to that sounder and the chart. When you are putting the rigger out to fish,have the boat in gear and moving. A bad day on the water is not good when you are so far from help.Basically you are 911. Keep that radio on channel 16. Pay attention to the marine weather forecasts. Have fun, but be safe.

Hello Creative living in your area is a challenge but study the lifestyles of the coastal indigenous peoples to get ideas how they created natural food meals. From your boat gather kelp. Seaweed soup is a staple upgraded with mushrooms is awesome do you have any tofu. Foraging for mussels and clams is another. Poached apples in brown sugar and vanilla extract How about bananas foster with rum flambé using any fresh fruit you have. please stay ultra warm as bone chill is bad for joints always wear gloves and hats. Enjoy this adventure Texas Tom Outdoors man Hunter

Love your videos, why aren't you setting your crab traps off the dock and checking and baiting them daily? Also, can't you fish off the dock also?
@Claysanabus7 сағат бұрын
Hey! ☺️We have been told that apparently the crabbing doesn’t seem to be great in our bay, so they told us to try the bay next to us. Not sure why! We could try to do some fishing around the dock, I am not sure if the big fish will be around there. There is also a lot of large chains in the water ( all over ) to keep the helicopter pad and dock in place to

At 6:08 ,Never ever use starting fluid (aka Either)on a gasoline engine , you can permanently damage them very easily ,it will quickly wash all the oil off the cylinder walls ,use only on Diesel engines and very sparingly on Diesel engines 😮

Hello, I noticed you don't have a pet. A dog is useful as an early warning in case of predators and obviously as a third wheel companion. A large dog with long winter coat against the cold, a Husky or St. Bernard is the best type in this area of coastal BC.. Well just a thought. Enjoying your videos.

Hello, Awesome, Hard working adventure. I learned techniques of long term storage of food items especially eggs and other produce and food items. The Amish people do the long term storage since way back. All foods can spoil over time even staples of rice, beans and other food items. These old skills which are still useful today for such a long term caretaker positions regardless of power from generators, problems can occur. I am a new subscriber and look forward to your adventures.

I’ve kayaked and camped through the area where you’re living right now. I can appreciate both the incredible natural world around you as well as challenges of that environment. I know there are black bears on the islands but I don’t understand why you feel the need to carry a rifle with you every where you go. It makes you look like Americans and their right to bear arms…
@Claysanabus2 күн бұрын
It is a safety measure we take for our own security, and we take our safety precautions seriously, being this remote. We aren't showing it to seem flashy, you are making an assumption and that's fine, no worries. I would rather have it and not need it, rather then need it and not have it. The past caretakers have had issues with bears here.

Wow, the whales are awesome! I want to see them in my lifetime too, I hope that will happen. Lovely shots and way better with less music. Regarding the plants: I use some very good apps for identifying, maybe that's also something useful for you. There might be some good ones for fish/animals too.

Great videos, and I'm looking forward to be with you on this fantastic adventure! Maybe some advice: use music sparsely. Maybe to go with a short montage or for intro/outro but right now it's way too much, too loud and too generic. It's not needed :) A better mic would also be great but I guess it's too late for a delivery hehe. Have a beautiful and cozy winter out there!

I'm surprised that the lodge doesn't have a substantial battery bank and low voltage LED lighting and inverters as a primary power source. You'd only need to run the generator for a few hours a day to recharge the batteries.
