Is there any format for the MOI certificate when requesting to schools?
@LisaLostInJapanКүн бұрын
@@orionneful Hi there! I checked the letters that my schools prepared for me, and one of them just wrote: xxx was admitted to xxx School from Year xxx - xxx. Medium of Instruction: English And another school wrote: This letter serves to certify that the below named was a student of xxx School. Name of student: xxx Years in school: xxx to xxx Medium of Instruction: English So I think anything goes as long as the letter has your school name, your name, the years attended, and a line saying the MOI was English. I just wrote them an email saying something along the lines of “My name is xxx. I was a student at xxx School from xxx to xxx. I am applying for a job which requires xxx. I would be grateful if you could help to prepare a letter of proof of English education bearing the name of the school, the years attended, my name, and state that English was the medium of instruction.” Hope this helps!

Hi Lisa! Loving your content! I am a fellow Singaporean going to work in Japan soon for the first time this year too! By the way would love to hear from you about your views living alone in japan.. we have always been living with our family since young in Singapore so what are some of the good points and challenges that you have faced? Lets gambatte together! ^^
@LisaLostInJapanКүн бұрын
@@WanderandWonder-l6g Hi!! Can’t wait for you to start your life here 😆 You will miss Singapore food really badly so pack your rations hahaha It was really daunting at the start, suddenly living alone, having to do all the chores by myself (wash the dishes, do the laundry, clean the house…) and coming home after a long day of work to an empty house… The freedom is great and all but calling your friends and family frequently will help with the homesickness! + making friends here, super important so you don’t get too lonely!! And I think thinking of meals to cook everyday is also a bit of a hassle, you have to make sure you eat enough fruits and veggies~ I know I’m guilty of not eating healthy enough 🤣 Oh and something I’m still not used to up til today - Singapore is so convenient, you can just PayNow/PayLah your friends, can just withdraw money at any ATM at any time, so easy to get from one place to another by bus/train… If you live in a rural place, it will be so troublesome (and costly) to do anything 😭 I’ll make a more in-depth video if I have time but if you have any specific questions, ask away ☺️
@WanderandWonder-l6gКүн бұрын
@LisaLostInJapan thankewww for replying !! 💗💗💗 hahaha I’m probably gonna pack some Tomyum cup noodles and milo 🤣! OMGG YAS !! the household chores will probably be something that I’m not used to HAHAHA ! In Singapore we have the luxury of throwing everything in one rubbish bin but in Japan , I heard that households have to separate our rubbish and it only gets collected on certain days (?) If so how do you cope with the smell? or where do you store it ? Also if you cook, would the smell be strong (assuming that Japanese apartments are usually quite small).. I also heard from some of my friends living in Japan that the internet connection is very slow hahaha !
@LisaLostInJapanКүн бұрын
@ omg I’m so happy to be able to talk to someone who can relate HAHA Btw they do sell Milo but it’s abit ex! And I don’t know if the taste is the same or not haha also drink all the choco milk/flavoured yakult before you come because they don’t have those here 🥲 and good bbt stores are hard to find 😭 YES so where I live, there’s separate rubbish bags you have to BUY to throw out burnable, non-burnable, and recyclable rubbish. Here, burnables can be thrown twice a week, and non-burnables (metal) and recyclables (plastic bottles) only ONCE a week. People usually lightly rinse food stuff like cup noodle cups, meat/fish packaging, anything that might get smelly before throwing it out, the food waste will still be a bit smelly though so you’d want a small rubbish bag that gets full quickly so you can tie up and throw away on the designated days. The other two types of rubbish I keep under my bed (there’s that storage space) until it gets full and I can throw it away! Most kitchens would have that thing above the stove that sucks the smell away so I turn that on every time I cook! Yeah, the apt is really small haha but if you close the door to the bedroom, the smell will stay in the kitchen 🤣 I’m still shocked my toilet doesn’t have that tiny window at the top to ventilate like Singapore toilets do though… But they have like a switch ah to suck the smell away HAHA Ehh when I used LeoPalace wi-fi, it was pretty slow so I quit the wi-fi and just portable hotspot my phone wi-fi for everything (tho that’s also mafan lah but no money no choice 🤣) coz Rakuten got unlimited data for ~$30, I know some friends who signed up for legit home wifi coz they game but it was pretty expensive 😅
@WanderandWonder-l6g11 сағат бұрын
@ HAHAHA thanks for sharing!! omggg i drink bubbletea like twice a week in SG so im prolly gonna miss it bad when i move to Japan T_T I think rubbish will be an issue if i go to Japan hahaha but i will try my best to get used to it !! I will be deployed to Tokyo so fingers crossed about the waste separation as i heard it differs according to the city you are living in hahaha Also I heard that theres the issue of mold as well ? Thank You for sharing your experience about the wifi! I will most likely also get the rakuten unlimited wifi then if thats the case! :p lets gambatte together ^^ looking forward to more content by you! 💗
@LisaLostInJapan9 сағат бұрын
@ Ahh if you’re in Tokyo then it’ll be easier to find nice bbt 🤣 Yesss the mold is crazy… It WILL grow, you have to wipe the windows during winter, you have to check the underside of your futon… The mold in the bath too 😭 For wi-fi, you’ll have to check first because I chose Sakura Mobile when I first came here since they have airport pick-up so I could use the internet as soon as I reached Japan, and then I later switched to Rakuten after a few months! There’s other carriers that let you pick up your sim card at the airport too so you check it out ☺️ Sorry for the long replies btw hahaha just so excited another Singaporean is coming 🤣🤣

I do have a question actually…I deal with some Japanese clients and find them speaking reeally fast in Japanese. Any tips on how you pick out these things? You have great tips on learning how to speak and read it but what about a real live conversation?
@LisaLostInJapan4 күн бұрын
@@moelc12 The teachers in my schools speak really fast in Japanese too 😭 What helps me is learning the words that they use frequently, so in my case it would be like • gaikokugo - foreign language • jugyou - class • ichi jikan me - first period And so on, and you create these lists so you will be able to pick up on it the next time you hear them talk. And you just keep expanding the list over time so you can understand more and more of what they’re talking about! I guess it’s the same as when Japanese hear us speaking English, it sounds really fast to them and they have no choice but to pick out the words they know & get used to the speed over time 😭

I did watch that actually ❤was good information but I guess my worry comes with 1. Hotel bookings before arrival • is the company responsible, if yes, do they send you the address of your hotel. • do you get to meet other alts 2. Where to get the SIM cards ( upon arrival) • what happens if your phone is not compatible with the SIM card (locked) ~ hopefully other alts can gather around here 😂so we can be of emotional support 😂😢.... sorry for any inconveniences ❤
@LisaLostInJapan18 күн бұрын
@ Ooh let me share my experience! So if you have the same company as me, they will pay for your hotel for the duration of your first training. But everyone will have to check out as soon as that training ends, so if your apartment is not ready to check in yet, you will have to book and pay for a hotel yourself in the meanwhile. For me, I had to pay for a night out of my own pocket. You do get to meet other ALTs at the training! And you’ll have one more training some time after moving into your apartment where you get to meet other ALTs in your area, including the more experienced ones! For SIM card, I chose Sakura Mobile because I could pay for it online from my own country and pick it up at the airport once I landed, so I could get a Japanese phone number + internet right away! Some other ALTs went with other carriers though, maybe Mobal? I didn’t research so I don’t know if they have a pick-up counter at the airport… Shoot me any other questions you might have, I totally get how you feel rn!

Hi Lisa San! I’m Italian and lived in the UK for 16 years, with a tax statement to prove it. I obtained my diploma and bachelor's degree in the UK. Additionally, I completed a 120-hour TEFL course online through a UK-based company. Do you think I could bypass their expectation of having 12 years of education entirely in English? I’d only want to work in Kyushu, as I really dream of living in Fukuoka. Which agency would you recommend? I’ve spent hours looking online, but I’m a bit confused. Also, is it normal that Borderlink asked me to send a video? Is there a way to request a live video interview instead? I apologise for bothering you!

@@a.e.4896 Hi!
