This is open to interpretation. But for me, this is could be interpreted as Libertarian-minded and/or anti-male. If I’m being fair, it’s two women songwriters acknowledging their anti-patriarchal predjudice (and power to them in pursuing equity) and these lyrics are admonishments to youth to divorce their lives form the biases of their parents. It’s also really a bland song. Faithful and Harvey have produced better than this.
