for the atalanta game tbh... that team is a very difficult team to play your own game against. yes our play is too methodical but when you leave your system to game breakers... you turn to madrid who, without the ball are really horrible. you can't take a risk with city... west ham is a cler example.

The streets patiently waited for Ayo and he returned. As a United fan I’d say watch this space the game vs. Barnsley was a glimpse of what I think is to come in terms of playing an attractive style of football. Having Uguarte is a big boost to the midfield and I think because of the terrible infrastructure we’ve had since SaF left any change in the positive direction has only been gradual

Spain structure and gameplay had a better impact on the final rather than individual moments of brilliance. Spain deserved the win!

Deschamps saw the limitations of his game. The lack of high and intense pressing structure did not allow them to have a momentum and the lack of game combinations and the rely on individual prowess did let him down. Still I saw glimpses of high pressing and better ball circulation during the first half vs Spain and knowing that Deschamps is not a dogmatic manager, I cannot imagine how after this Euro, he will not use these ingredients to make France dangerous again. France do not have a great playmaker or even a creative player in midfield anymore. Slow, possession game does not make sense anymore as they do not have a great finisher like Giroud and they need other solutions than individualities to be threatening. Nkunku and Olise will be interesting options for creativity. I guess Deschamps should take inspiration from Klopp who onces said: "No playmaker in the world can be as good as a good counterpressing ". By the way, really appreciate that you paid tribute to Kroos despite being a barca aficionado.

Kante playing as a 10 isn’t the reason France has struggled to score in this tournament. Creativity hasn’t even been a problem for them; it’s mainly their poor finishing and their attackers not being sharp in the final third. Kante was the catalyst for their winner against Belgium and has been the player who generated the most chances for France and had the highest xA. He has been forced to carry the entire creative load for France due to Griezmann and Mbappe being ineffective throughout the tournament. Even against Portugal, from the top of my head, he played a through ball to Theo, who squared it to Kolo Muani, who failed to connect with the ball.

Mate, this is a great analysis! Well said! The only time I did manage to predict the pass was when German scored their 2nd goal on this match, and it's because that pass was just the most sensible one to do. Anyway, I would love to see you doing these kind of videos on similar players such as Busquets, Scholes, Pirlo, Wilshere, Modric and Xavi because they used to be this kind of maestro also. Or else, you might also do an analysis on comparison of their differences as well.

not about this video: thoughts i had watching 🇪🇸 vs 🇫🇷 cucurella got booed and whistled at every touch …for 90min (from frustrated German fans I guess🤷‍♀️) that kind of crowd reaction can really mess with a players mental health e.g. Iniesta , carrick , karius ,… should refs pause or stop games if the crowd gets too toxic what do you think about that edit: how could I forget about harry maguire

Fans being toxic is out of the referees’ hands. Cucurella handled it very well can’t lie. Had a great game against Dembele.

Great take bro spot on although I do think Spain wins particularly because as a barca fan we can admit kounde is solid but he can be taken advantage of in 1 on 1 and I genuinely think ppl are underestimating Spain due to lack of experience and youth on the wings but I believe they’re gonna be up for the challenge and shock France but only if spains defense can hold up against mbappe and dembele cause without caravajal it’s shaky in the right back area vs mbappe

How would you setup Portugal?
@arielayo
@arielayo 2 ай бұрын
Similar to how they setup versus Turkey. Solid back 4, a DM, two midfielders in Vitinha and Bruno, then a front 3 of Leao Jota and Bernardo. Portugal’s problems don’t lie in personnel, rather in tactics .

@arielayo I don't agree unfortunately. Because that means there's no focal point to play over a press and for a team that crosses is their main way of creating chances it's impossible not to have a focal point to even drag a defence. he is as important as not scoring goals. I also don't agree that Portugal is changing their style because of him. this is international football at its best which is letting players play their best football.

I think Germany was in control 90% of the game and it never felt like Switzerland could get a win also they almost did :D They barely had any shot at target and were mostly just pressing the german defense, but the german defense always found a way to outplay them with even short passes. Their advantage was that they scored suddenly with their first real chance and then they had a good pressing structure especially on Kroos which kinda slowed down the german game. Also switzerland was playing "anti-football" when they were in lead and basically just put everyone behind the ball for long times and played for the clock already in the 50s minute. I dont blame them for doing it, it was clever. Overall I think Germany could have won 4:1 and it would have been a shocker if switzerland would have won the game.
@arielayo
@arielayo 2 ай бұрын
I mean in the chances created aspect, Switzerland didn’t have many SHOTS. But Germany didn’t have many clear cut chances either. But Switzerland had many half chances that I believe perhaps with better players they could have turned half chances into clear cut ones.

This is my take on France: France without Rabiot? Maybe that’s the offensive trigger. It is possible that Deschamps plays with two attackers with Thuram or Giroud and Kolo Muani (unlikely). Otherwise he plays Camavinga who tends to take more risks with the ball (more likely). It is also possible that he plays Fofana, the profile closest to Rabiot without changing system. (Most likely) Personally, I would like to see a Giroud or a Thuram surrounded by a Kolo Muani with a Grizou who plays centrally to provide the surplus. Kolo Muani focuses on playing between the lines and occupying the half-spaces. Grizou is available in the center to make small combinations or to look for the pass that hits the mark (without playing with his back to goal as often against Belgium, but rather trying to be facing the game). Giroud/ Thuram, they must weigh on the defenders to create space. And Koundé, we leave him the right wing... I am one of those who did not understand why Deschamps insisted on bringing Koundé into the offensive game, rather than playing him as a 3rd central defender, but if this Koundé facing Belgium is the new French standard with quality centers and impermeability in defense...Yes, I'm interested. AHowever this is what I want to see as a spectator, but in reality, France must play low against Portugal, because the Portuguese are not dangerous with the ball and can be fatal on counterattacks.

Cristiano Ronaldo has cried on the pitch multiple times throughout his career. Especially at International tournaments - just passionate about the game I guess 🤷‍♀️ Euro 2004 against Greece Euro 2016 against France WC 2022 against Morocco

@tiolu.o_17

it was emotion actually. no you picture this... you have a track record of 100% penalty conversion rate for more than 18 months which is by far the best you can ever see and then when it matters most it fails. hell the whole stadium was resigned to the fact that Portugal was through once they got the pen. there is no pro in this world that would not feel as emotional as he did at that point. I'm not saying this because I'm a ronaldo fan but it's irrational to give weird takes because he cried after missing a pen.

i don't agree with saying "sideways passes don't impact the play" .. we don't see it but some players use it to pull out the gaps between the players .. football is a game of small details.. and every detail matters
