My Radiomaster radio has an ELRS system inside. Is there a way to setup this heli with the elrs system instead of the multiprotocol.

Yes, you can use an ELRS micro receiver with SBUS output. FWIW the newly released M2 EVO Mk2 has native ELRS support, these new helis are hitting dealers any time now.

also forgot to add when i hover i have to put in left rudder and forward alieron alot like 70% just to maintain same posotion so no matter what i do even the pull down on alieron for 3 seconds and reset the gyro routine it still takes far to much stick input to maintain a small window of area.. i even adjust trimes full left full forward it does nothing.... im a noob when it comes ot helis but i can fly ok i mean calm etc please help with that also thanks

Never use trims on a flybarless heli. Put them all back to centre, it's best to disable trims if you can. If you are using self level model (LED on the flight controller sold, not blinking) then sometimes you need to do a trim flight though it's unusual to be as far out as you describe. When in self level mode control response is a bit slow as the heli is constantly trying to level itself. if your skill level is up to it you should find the problem goes away if you put the controller out of self level (LED blinking).

@@jetplaneflyer ok let me clarify it more.. ok so i fly once 9in the air i have to give 75% left rudder and 50% reverse alieron just to maintain hover.. either the cyclic is off to the front and right or something is going on.. it shouldnt be that much to maintain a stable position even in 3d mode etc.. so what i did was i put it into mid rates the right rocker switch on the radiomaster pocket and this helped alittle maybe shaved off 10% but not enough i think its the swash plate thats not level i need to know how to level it manually seeing how the flight controler is locked ive tried changing settings its the omp protocol on the radio so on the flight controllers are leds and a buitton press it 3 seconds use down alieron to lower settings so if its a 5 it will be 4 and forward alieron to increse from 5 to 6 oviously on any setting i want to go down a few numbers but the flight controller wont respond or let me do that its like its locked out.. so my question is if i cant trim it out on my controller and i cant on the flight controller then how to i get it to hover better in place and btw i tried the pull full stick aleron for 3 seconds down then fly that method it would let me do that but still i have to hold wayyy more stick than normal.. so manually all i can do is what? take a servo arm off go one notch here or there and visually see where the cyclic is..? or if im doing the flight controller wrong then how do i change the settings on it? or on the radio is there settings for cyclic etc in the radio its self other than trims i can adjust now second problem from 0-%50% the copter is smooth acending hit 60% and it shoots up fast and stops where you stop.. go down and once it hits from 100=50% goimng down it shoots down so what i want to do is adjsts blade pictu going down you get negative pits when i just want 0 or level and going up i want to slowly increase the pitch with throttle and or decrease the agressive blade.. from 50 and above.. whats funny is i have other copsters from other brands that act normal and dont shoot up or maintain out of the box stability... its hard for me to film seeing how im one person and i have no one to film it... but those are the 2 issues but i found if i use dual rates 2 middle button rocker switch and slowly use the throttle i mean slow dead slow it does not hop around so this is bad because if i haded to correct myself it will shoot up and or down seems in the middle theres a dead band of cyclic or of the blade speed or angle of attack and if i cant adjust it via radio or the fc then i have to manually do it via servo steps so please help thanks

question for you steve i have the m1 evo just bought it omp protocols with the pocket transmitter i try to adjust settings on the flight controller press button 3 seconds any one of the leds light up but i pull down on the transmitter alieron and say its a 5 blinking it wont go down or up is it hard locked or something or am i doing something wrong? reason i ask in normal mode stabaized with rates low rates etc 3 way switch downward.. when i take off about 0-50% from take off its great 50% and say i throttle up to just above half it shoots up alittle hard then i want to go lower pull it down from say 60% to hover and it shoots down but 50% and lower it smothly goes to land its jumpy after that 50% is there a way to eliviate this? can you tell me step by step with radio etc what to do.. thanks
@jetplaneflyer
@jetplaneflyer 2 ай бұрын
I'm not sure why the controller is not responding to adjustment but to be honest I'd advise to leave it alone. You can get yourself into a mess if you start adjusting settings without being familiar with what you are doing. It comes factory set and tested. PS.. i assume you mean pull down on the elevator? (it's elevator channel that adjusts the settings). Do not try to adjust the servo arm positions in an attempt to cure drift, it wont work and it will mess the heli up.

Everyone has their own favourite brands. I used to use Spektrum myself but for various reasons prefer other brands these days. You can't bind Spektrum in the way I show on this video because Spektrum doesnt support either OMP or SFHSS protocol. You will have to use an external DSM receiver for Spektrum.

Hi Steve, looking good! I’ve just ordered one of these and was wondering whether you feel the rudder is worth having / connecting up? It seems more like a bank-n-yank model and so a rudder may be unnecessary? Thanks! 😎👍🏻
@jetplaneflyer
@jetplaneflyer 5 ай бұрын
I'd probably not bother with the rudder. I used it on this one as it was a prototype build so i wanted to test out the option. In reality I've only used the rudder very occasionally for a few stall turns. Omitting the rudder and servo also gives you a better shot at bringing the weight under the magic 250g.. I was 2g over

@@bluecavemen the flight controller on most RC helis (usually called flybarless controller) doesnt work like a drone flight controller. It has no GPS and does do any autonomous control at all. On a drone if you take your hands off the sticks the drone just self stabilises and sits static in the sky. On a RC heli if you take your hands off the heli will just hit the dirt. That's the challenge you get from it. it's not easy!

CG is about 80mm back from the tip of the nose. No gyro fitted. This is the new version, I have the old one too and it certainly benefits from a gyro. The significant change I think is that the new one doesnt have dihedral which greatly reduces Dutch roll tendency.

I’ve done some testing on a few makes of lipo to get IR. I found it is very important to keep them at the same temperature and charge level when doing comparative tests. A warmer cell of say 25C versus 20C (Centigrade) can change IR from say 11 to 7 milli ohms. I’ve tried cycling some 35C 2200 cells that have IR of 12 to see if it improves but it didn’t. I’ve got 12 year old 20C 2200 Rhino cells IR around 7 that have much lower IR than new similar Overlander cells. I find a lot of the C ratings are just complete fantasy. There is a big forum collecting IR data and trying to put true C ratings against cell capacity and IR values. How can a 2200 50C rated pack possibly put out over 100 Amps when the typical SC60 connector is only rated at 60Amps burst current, and yet that’s what it is stating by the ratings. I just wish we could be given true representative info from the manufacturers rather than lies.

Wellll it flies . But in all seriousness: What advantage (if Any ?) does a pure wing give over the typical planform that 99.99% of aircraft use. Prandtls notions are 100 years old. More than ample time for their merits to be evaluated .. and superceeded

I have studied, designed, and flown flying wings for about 50 years. Even if they are perfectly optimized, at best, they will only equal the performance of conventional configs. Most are worse. It is the simple fact that to achieve stability the designer has to give up some lift capability and hence gets a lower L/D. However, the use of fully active flight controls may change this equation and finally yield flying wings that have superior performance.

ah...one thing you did not mention...after binding you need to do a frequency fine-tune (choose 'freqtune' icon under 'bind' icon and tune each direction to find the strongest signal) as it may not have the correct signal strength. Once you finetune the signal your good to go.
@jetplaneflyer
@jetplaneflyer 4 ай бұрын
I've never personally needed to fine tune when using the OMP protocol. You are right there is a fine tune feature, however the Rx doesn't have RSSI so there is no way to see if your fine tuning is making things better or worse, other than scrolling until signal is lost. That's why I just leave it at default.

Dave, sorry, missed your last message. For a beginner something made from foam is not a bad shout as they dont need building and they bounce when crashrd. You could do a lot worse than the dream flight Alula, it packs down small so easy to carry when you are out on a walk and they fly really nicely. You would need servos, a receiver, transmitter and flight battery, but the dealer you buy from I'm sure would make recommendations. For a Transmitter the Radiomaster Zorro is good if you want something compact and portable but still very capable.
