I’ve had many cats over the years, but my current cat, Travis, is the least vocal cat I’ve ever owned. I can barely hear him pur and he meows like a little puss. lol. I hate it because I can’t hear him if he’s meowing for me to open the door to let him in.

I’ve had several cats over the years but I am so stupefied by my current cat, Travis. He just doesn’t seem to be as interested in me as my other cats were. He’s also more prone to licking and then, shortly thereafter, biting me. lol. I don’t get it. As for petting a cat’s tail, I found my female cat, Quincy, used to love getting pet at the base of her tail. lol, when she would greet me, she would prop her butt up just to be pet there. When I’d pet her, she would lay on her front paws and lift her hiney up.

This reminds me of a story. In year 4, we would get to feed the guinea pigs for 2 weeks who lived in a large cage in the chicken coop. When I moved in to year 5 we learned that the new year 4’s had not fed any of them and they passed away

Oh, I could launch my cat at someone and they would get scratched. My porch, I tell you to leave, there are worse things I can do. Living in the wilderness, I had a lot of encounters with wild animals. Oh, I really found a lone female Puma Kitten and feed her. You can tell me how dangerous this is in the comments. But I really am a compassionate person. Luckily, the Puma really turned out to love me. The cat would sit around outside and watch me, while this behavior is normally unsettling, she just thought I was the "Cat's Meow." One Day, I was in the woods an a Meth Dealer who was upset, I had beaten one of his friends, he came with a Saturday night special. I tried to warn him that the mountain lion did not like yelling and she liked me. I was hoping that he would see the big cat and do the smart thing and leave. Because while the cat loves me, she's a predator and not really a pet. I mean you can't train them, since telling them no or scolding them could be dangerous. However, this guy wouldn't just go. He shot at me and that cat, just jumped at him and did what comes naturally to a 200+ pound cat. She dragged him off to god knows where... Cause they bury their food and I had to explain what happened to the sheriffs department. My land was connected to the national forest which is illegal to hunt or kill any animal. That's theirs. I had a really difficult time explaining it. But when they found his body, they had to figure out who he was by DNA test 5 days later. While I don't suggest that you attempt to befriend a Puma in the wild, this cat literally eliminated my problems. It really liked me as I suppose it saw my kindness and guidance as parental. It definitely made me hardy and alert. As when it was younger, I would go hunting at night, simply to kill deer for it as a way to keep it from scavenging in the local College dumpsters. Thus teaching it to hunt and fulfilling the role of it's parent. These large cats, they live to be 15-17 years old and they are normally solitary creatures. While they are really territorial, it seems as if they remember and cherish friendship if you are all it has. I never had this cat act aggressive to me. But this could have just been this particular cat's feelings toward me. Because unfortunately for other people, it wasn't so docile. In her old age, I couldn't keep her away. She loved me and acted much like a large house-cat. Though not in my house. When I would sleep outside as I am prone to do, she would lay down on my sleeping bag and I would have to move her over. I would often take food just for her. No Meow mix for her, she and I think cats are total carnivores. I could pet her and I would get her large dog flea collars, which she wore like I had given her a pearl necklace. It's really sad that in most situations people don't see the value of the Puma and that these cats are on the verge of being extinct. Part of the reason why I didn't just let her starve to death. That and the fact that her cries were horrendous. I had waited 3 days to give her something to eat. Because at that point mommy isn't coming back. She grew into the largest puma I have ever seen and she could jump 20 feet up and she would crawl on top of me on really cold nights. I miss her and I learned a lot about pumas and wild cats just because I had to learn how to act around her. Trying my best to communicate with her, because she was the most VERBAL cat and I don't mean roars, she was always trying to tell me something. I think it was that she loved me and missed me when I would be away during the day. She wasn't mine, I was hers.

Our German shepherd has a pretty good balance of independence and attachment. He only checks on us occasionally and will often nap an hour or two at a time. He loves to beg for attention if we are having conversations, though. 😂

I grew up with dogs. When I got pregnant I was a serious high risk pregnancy and had to spend 99% of my pregnancy in bed. So I had my heart broken because I had to let my pup go because I couldn’t walk or bathe take to vet… so ahe went to a trusted relative who had a small farm and plenty of land to run. She lived a good 3 years past the estimated age of death so she had a wonderful life. I ended up getting a cat because I HAVE to have a fur child so I can feel whole if that makes sense…. My baby daddy was awesome about cleaning the litter box because pregnant women can not to that it could cause a miscarriage even as far along as I was. My baby was born healthy strong and she is an amazing mother too. My child grew up with fur siblings. Dogs cats hamsters rats birds… ect… make better people when growing up with fur siblings 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Like others here, my dogs never miss a bathroom visit, even if they are out in the yard. I'm often amazed that they aways know when I'm there. It's both cute and a little bit annoying. Nonetheless, never met a dog I couldn't love.
