Agree with the points made in this video! I think one of the other things the manga does well is how it balances crazy action sciences with comedy and then absolutely heart breaking modern back stories. And it seems to flip between these scenes on a dime. But it works so well. Umbrella boy omg. And Vamola and Acrosilky to name a few.

Bro kagurabachi isn't all that different. It has the spiritual energy, similar to curse energy or chakra. U said kagurabachi is changes the shonen trope because the main character uses swords and isn't trying to master spiritual energy. But the sword uses spiritual energy. It's similar to so many other series like jjk, yuji doesn't have cursed technique at first but eat sukuna finger to fight. Bro it's same in the end. Even the main character motivation is shonen like to never let sword harm other it's same. Only difference is the main character age. And my main problem with kagurabachi is philosophy that sword maker is responsible for the wrong doing of sword weilder. It's stupid and most shonen like.

I haven't gotten all the way through the video yet, so if this is addressed later I will edit my comment, but I think the premise of a dark earth-based mystery surrounding specifically Guy Gardner, Jon Stewart, Hal Jordan, could actually work if written correcrly. Depending on what they decide to take and interpret from The source material, the story could actually turn out really well if they write something that is convincing enough. Those three lanterns specifically have always had a likeness to their home planet (obviously) and fought for it even when the Guardians and the Green Lantern corps wanted to push it to the side and not draw attention to it and would directly order them to not give their efforts to its concerns. This was a major factor of a lot of Geoff Johns Green Lantern stories in the 2010s, which are regarded to be some of the best Green Lantern content by fans including myself. I think, if they plan to adapt some of this content onto screen, this type of show could work really well in starting to build to that, as it is really a lot and to be truly done well it would take some time. Im hoping for the best, at the end of the day because of how big of a fan i am for anything DC, so we will just have to see.

Shounen isn't a genre, and I think tons of shounen exist that don't feel much like each other, and most shounen use soft magic systems. The ones that use hard magic systems are just talked about the most. I think what's different is Kagurabachi takes from a lot of shounen that haven't been seen as the exemplars. Honozono is the first true Gen Z mangaka at this level, so his influences are a lot in Hollywood cinema, and if you pay attention stories such as JJK, likely Demon Slayer, and Char feels like Eri from MHA. The Sazanami and their dynamic to Hakuri feels a lot based on the Zenin and Maki, except the narrative doesn't treat them as unsympathetic villains to be exterminated (totally different purpose). Kyora being a long mustachioed guy with literal " projection sorcery" is likely rooted in Naobito, and his intent on preserving the clan's success. I like that Honozono has a technically double sided magic system. People can do things, and then the weapons can do things, in a nutshell.

Correction, the main human lead in these books is named Spike Witwicky rather than Sam Witwicky. In the original cartoon the main human was named Spike and in the Bayverse films they decided to name them Sam but keep the same last name. Its an understable mistake especially if the movies are your frame of reference.

@@comicbookMadman Ok that's a really fair point, Spike does say it was a nickname in these comics rather than his actual name. However I don't believe his actual name is ever spoken? So, yes you're right that Spike is a nickname, but as far as I know I don't believe their actual name has been revealed.

Honestly that’s a really good way of putting KB. Instead of saying “Power is good in the right hands”, it’s a story asking the big question of “Should we have power if it allows dubious people to wield it for evil?” Sojo and Kyora (two main baddies so far) each have their own unique perspectives running parallel to Chihiro. Chihiro believes power should only be used when necessary, willing to take back the problematic blades and preserve his father’s legacy. Sojo believes in the freedom of a weapon, willing to use it for its purpose and make more of them. Kyora only values a weapon as another means of profit and prosperity, willing to sacrifice his family and his own life for it.

I feel like u genuinely just described any other manga. Example. Devils Fruits is the power system, the power to rule em all, until Haki was introduced and now it topples the devil fruits system and is now more important, and now u introduce the complexities and levels of haki
@philltheotherguy18682 ай бұрын
I don’t think that’s the same. Haki was introduced in the story later in but it existed the whole time in the world of the story itself, and it mostly serves to compliment the original power system. The enchanted blades make natural sorcery obsolete in universe, so their has existence causes a greater shift in the society of this world

@@johnpalcon7570 different aspect though. haki is more like a big boost to help your current arsenal. the swords in kagurabachi is literally a hand held nuke. you lose your original sorcery and gain something far above anything else in the world, at least that will be the case until the ability to forge the datenseki gets "cracked"

@comicbookmadman: Why would Green Lantern make or break the DCU when we all know that Superman the movie starring Christopher Reeve kickstarted this whole DC universe, right? Why concentrate on Green Lantern when the first order of things should be Superman, Supergirl and then what dc superhero movie follows right? I am confused by your statement. Please help me understand.
@comicbookMadman3 ай бұрын
the Lanterns show will really be a major step in expanding the DC universe, plus with James Gunn already stating that this will also be central into tying into the larger DCU story he wants to tell if it flops the higher heads are more than likely just gonna want james to lean on characters that are more likely to sell and stop trying to expand into other characters. and with the lanterns show already on the way it won't really matter as much if superman and supergirl does poorly this will still get made. if all three are bad than this show will be the final straw and break the DCU. if it succeeds despite the success or failure of the other two then theres still hope of building up the DCU (in my opinion). I should have made this point in the video, still new at this and figuring things out, but I hope this helps :)

Personally, I think Dredd works best as both... and neither. Like John Wagner said, sometimes you're supposed to root for him, sometimes you're supposed to think "thank God he's not real!" I think it's this complexity that makes him compelling and unique as a character.
@TheKeyser9410 ай бұрын
If you think that Dredd is a hero you are reading the comic book wrong, after all, Dredd was a brutal cop and a total fascist, he killed pro-democracy protesters without any kind of remorse.
@louiscypher418610 ай бұрын
Eh "America" isn't the best example of the Judges being straight up villian's because it focuses on a movement which from the judges perspective risks the downfall of their civilization. The best examples of Dredd being the bad guy is the small everyday day interactions which are just petty as hell. Dredd giving a guy 6 months for bleeding on the sidewalk because it counts as littering. A crook promises to "Get" Dredd when he gets out in 9 years so Dredd gives him 3 extra years for threatening a Judge Dredd gives a guy 1 single day off his 50(?) year sentences for cooperating with the investigation. Dredd saves some insane woman's life, she kisses him as a thank you. So he gives her 6 months for prostituting herself to a judge.

It is an interesting take. I think of it as the logical ending to the axiom "when manliness is outlawed, only outlaws will be manly". So many societies in history have broken down because of lawlessness and lawlessness thrives in areas where men don't lead. Whether by apathy or circumstances, weak men lead to poor morals. Poor morals lead to collapse of societies.
