This game is incredibly dark. Makes The Painful look like a barrel of laughs by comparison. (Which, to be fair, has the black comedy aspect this game doesn’t)

The secret VHS with Lisas mom, the person who turns back isnt Marty, is Brad. Thats why he is first repenting then being passive aggresive, is a mix of Brad at first Marty at last. Or thats what i like to think, since Brad wasnt bald when he was teaching Karate, so i dont think he was bald before. Still, interesting at least.

I know it's a bit late, but that's definitely not Brad, see, Brad wasn't even thought out when Austin made the first game, that's why there's only 2 rooms in the house, Lisa's and Marty's, but not brad's. The woman is her mother and turning around with the face of Marty reveals that Lisa has such a trauma that she just see his father's face everywhere, to the point she forgot about her mother's face

I think it's meant to be an "echo" of sorts. Lisa obtains the sword after killing Tricky Rick twice. Buddy gets her sword after Brad kills both Marty and Rando's army- in summary, killing the people she would rather be with, twice. It's evocative of arming yourself for self-defense purposes after being severely traumatized.

This was actually the first LISA game("LISA: The First"). The second was Painful, which is probably the one you want... But, y'know, if you admire one game, you should give the whole series a try. ...also, i love how every reply is one year later

To answer your question, Yume Nikki touches on similar themes, but is far more abstract. I'd suggest you start with trying to make art to express yourself before trying to make a game. Walk before you run and all that.
