lisa as a character makes me sad as shit. through the whole game i couldn't stop feeling bad for her. a young girl whose life was completely ruined by who was supposed to take care of her, and whose memories got completely erased and replaced with the face of her abuser, even her mother's face also, ik this game was made before painful, therefore brad wasn't even thought to be created yet, but i like to believe that's the reason he doesn't appear here, because all that appears on lisa's mind is marty, so she pretty much forgot about him

This is one of few games that I'd recommend people just watch a playthrough of rather than play it. The Marty spiders are some of the biggest timewasters I think I've ever encountered in a game. Just plain infuriating game design. If someone ever gets around to remaking this in any of the newer versions of RPG Maker, I really hope they include an “easy” mode option, slow down the spiders ‘til they act as more of a creepy environmental hazard, or straight-up remove them entirely. They’re such a roadblock to most people who want to fully experience the game, it’s ridiculous

Gamer 2: Gamer No More bruuh does this game even matter. Because I want to get into the story but this game seems like a worthless edition into the lore. But fact that it's set before the apocalypse is cool. But other than that seems like it dosent string together into the main plot that well accept to say that they have a shit dad but we can see that in the secound game.

The thing is, I understand what they were trying to achieve thematically with the Marty Spiders - they're supposed to make the player feel trapped and frustrated much in the same way that Lisa would feel being trapped by Marty in her everyday life. The problem is that Austin just took it WAAAAY too far.

I think it's meant to be an "echo" of sorts. Lisa obtains the sword after killing Tricky Rick twice. Buddy gets her sword after Brad kills both Marty and Rando's army- in summary, killing the people she would rather be with, twice. It's evocative of arming yourself for self-defense purposes after being severely traumatized.

People criticizing the gameplay aren’t aware of the backstory, which is really what the game’s about. Lisa lives with her sexually and psychologically abusive father, Marty, whom she can’t escape from. She experiences episodes of insanity where she has auditory and visual hallucinations, such as the Marty spiders. I won’t reveal the ending.

Oscar Rivas hopeful is a fan made sequel to Lisa the Painful, while Joyful is a dlc to Lisa the Painful. If you have already played Lisa the first then play Painful.

The secret VHS with Lisas mom, the person who turns back isnt Marty, is Brad. Thats why he is first repenting then being passive aggresive, is a mix of Brad at first Marty at last.
