I have an '05 Outback and it has been soo good in the Winnipeg winters. The snow only makes me want to go out and play! lol I have backed out of my parking stall with 2.6 feet of snow behind me with no worries. I love playing around on the unplowed streets as I can get to where I'm going with no worries!

I have an azure blue 2014 Outback with the Boxer Turbodiesel and a 6sp. Manual transmission. No compaints about it whatsoever, its been very reliable for 170k and has proven itself in the muck and snow many times. Many people mock these cars, but without an idiot behind the wheel and some good tires. They offer some serious capability!
@GammaBoom
@GammaBoom 2 жыл бұрын
170k miles or kilometers? I'm interested in buying one but am a bit skeptical about its reliability. Did you have any problems whatsoever with your car? Did you hear about any problems with it? I also heard that spare parts are hard to get by and are expensive... Is that true?

AWESOME!!!!! definitely my next vehicle ....what years are good to buy used 4cyl or 6cyl?
@johnnyq1233
@johnnyq1233 2 жыл бұрын
Probably the 4 cyl, single overhead cam, non turbo. They have decent power and they are the easiest to change plugs without lifting the engine. You just got to take out the battery on the driver side and the airbox on the passenger side... My 2005 Outback falls into this category.. Different models have slightly different requirements. Just be smart when shopping as head gaskets were an issue back in the day.

I had a ‘97 Outback that was the best car I’ve ever owned. After straying for 2 cars (Toyota Highlander then a Toyota RAV4) I’m ready to go back to Subaru. The RAV actually handles better in all road conditions than the Highlander, but neither can touch an Outback by a mile.

Subaru's are the best! Whether driving in snow, ice, light trails, highway or traffic I just get in it, turn the key and drive. No fussing with locking diff's or switching modes or whatever. Occasionally I have to turn the windshield wipers on but that's it. We took our '13 Outback 2.5i Limited up some pretty steep logging trails to get my dad's climbing deer stand. Didn't slip at all, even with the stock all season tires on it. When it was all over we got back on the highway and it was back to heated leather interior, Sirius XM and 26 mpg. No buttons to push. Everyone, including myself, was pretty impressed.

@patricksheehan8157

I have both. The Outback does have more cargo room but the forester is taller and for some items is more practical just because the luggage area is taller. Both are good choices though. I prefer the outback for errands but the forester for adventures.
