Great video…. wish there would have been something like this out there 10 years ago. BTW your workbench and work area are very unaturally clean and organized. I would be afraid to work there!

Is this the set Harry B has been playing? Why are there three chanters in the pictures?
@bhpipes
@bhpipes 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, that’s the set that went to Harry. I made three C# chanters at the same time, one Egan type and two Coyne. The Egan is the one Harry took and is the one in the video. I have video of all three for comparison, PM me for info if you like.

Excellent video Bill, thanks! I never knew how to really use a fully tapered rolling mandrel to its full effect until I watched this.

My thinking on this is that staples should be made with a tuning adjustment screw which would enable the internal volume of a staple to be fine tuned. There are so many variables within the reed head itself that it would seem impossible to have a 'hard and fast' measurement for the internal volume of staples, even for a single chanter.

streetlegal008 this is why rushes are useful
@streetlegal008
@streetlegal008 4 жыл бұрын
@@bhpipes True - but rushes become necessary because of that lack of internal volume adjustability in staple design. Not only in the case of bagpipes, but for other double reeded instruments such as oboe and bassoon.

Greets from SFO, Bill. Nice playing as usual by Mark. I can attest to the lust-worthy character of your pipes and craftsmanship, having seen first hand your products. Please keep up the good work and marvelous attention to detail.
