Good design. Have you made a jig for 3mm and above size drills?
@DIYFotoWorks3 күн бұрын
I’ve only made this for general use while drilling freehand, it is tricky with smaller bits. I use my small drill press with a Honemade Fence etc. frequently, whenever I can. Thanks for Watching!

how do you clean you brushes, they look new every time you use them
@DIYFotoWorks25 күн бұрын
I use a fair bit of water based finishes when I can, soap & water and a brush comb, I do it right away after I finishing filming. For Danish Oils if I use a brush I will throw it out, I use cheap ones in this case, but like foam brushes. I rarely clean with solvents etc.

not expecting a reply on a 1 year old video but I'll give it a shot anyways. Maybe I missed it in the build but what's the little metal (?) dot on the long edge between the bowls? Looks like a little magnet, but can't figure out why. Love the design, it could easily be scaled up as a console/hallway table.
@DIYFotoWorks2 ай бұрын
The metal dot is actually a threaded rod leftover in the Oak. It was a large outdoor patio table at onetime commercially made. Thanks for Watching. 😊

How’s your desk holding up? Would you suggest applying the oil on the bottom of the wood? I have only a pint of danish oil and my butcher block weighs about 80 pounds so I’m looking at only doing the top… thanks!
@DIYFotoWorks2 ай бұрын
My desk is holding up well. Danish oil is a good protective finish for light use. I’m pretty easy on this desk, anything more serious I would topcoat. I’d try to do the bottom if possible, once the top has absorbed as much as possible, hopefully you have just enough for the bottom…Good Luck

Great build and nice educational video. I enjoy your channel and learn a lot. It's educational, simple to follow and fun to watch. How do you separate the work between the basement and the outdoor workshop? How do you manage the dust in the basement workshop to not get into HVAC and the rest of the building?
@DIYFotoWorks2 ай бұрын
Thanks so much, appreciate it! I generally do the majority of my sanding, planing etc. outside on a portable workbench. I will generally do a few passes on camera to demonstrate, then take it outside. I usually don’t show this on camera. (Cold weather, boring repetive footage etc.). I’m still working on a better garage setup for my tablesaw, dust collection etc. I’m trying to use hand tools as often as possible. We’ll see where all this goes… Thanks for Watching!
@MajiDFN2 ай бұрын
@@DIYFotoWorks Thanks for the detailed response. That is very helpful. I used to have my shop setup in the basement. But the dust was a problem only after a couple of projects. Now moving everything to the outside detached garage with no heating and the cold Montreal weather prevents me to touch anything.
@DIYFotoWorks2 ай бұрын
@@MajiDFN I hear that, same issues I live in Winnipeg, so parking in my small unheated garage is a necessity. It’s tricky without a heated shop space in our climate, not to mention rusting etc.
@giseliapereira59142 ай бұрын
It looks great, however, making any kind of groves in a hollow door weakens the door. How is it holding up?
@DIYFotoWorks2 ай бұрын
If done correctly, shallow grooves there is no issue. All doors are perfect other than scuffs etc. Thanks for Watching!
