Monitor Stand/Desk Shelf Build! 4K

Monitor Stand or Desk Shelf DIY. A simple and cheap to build monitor stand riser for your computer desk. Made for my Apple M1 iMac. Not much more than $10 Canadian, in my case.
This video is a continuation of my office/studio/computer desk makeover.
Buying these stands can get pretty pricey, particularly when choosing walnut or similar wood species. I chose Pine for the top and a reclaimed scrap of Oak for these simple legs. (At onetime a tabletop). But you could use practically anything. I sized mine based on my Apple M1 iMac and external drives, and a place for plants of course.
Woodworking doesn't get much simpler, and doesn't need to be as complicated as my take on the Monitor Stand or Desk Shelf. I realize not everyone has 'all the tools'. You could simply screw and plug the holes when attaching the legs, or just glue and nail for that matter. Just make sure it's strong! Hopefully it inspires you to make something similar.

Great build and nice educational video. I enjoy your channel and learn a lot. It's educational, simple to follow and fun to watch. How do you separate the work between the basement and the outdoor workshop? How do you manage the dust in the basement workshop to not get into HVAC and the rest of the building?

Thanks so much, appreciate it! I generally do the majority of my sanding, planing etc. outside on a portable workbench. I will generally do a few passes on camera to demonstrate, then take it outside. I usually don’t show this on camera. (Cold weather, boring repetive footage etc.). I’m still working on a better garage setup for my tablesaw, dust collection etc. I’m trying to use hand tools as often as possible. We’ll see where all this goes… Thanks for Watching!

@@DIYFotoWorks Thanks for the detailed response. That is very helpful. I used to have my shop setup in the basement. But the dust was a problem only after a couple of projects. Now moving everything to the outside detached garage with no heating and the cold Montreal weather prevents me to touch anything.

@@MajiDFN I hear that, same issues I live in Winnipeg, so parking in my small unheated garage is a necessity. It’s tricky without a heated shop space in our climate, not to mention rusting etc.
