I was 10 in 1984, knew nothing at all about figure ice skating but was in awe watching this! They were hypnotic! ❤

Zimske OI Sarajevo '84...u mojoj tada YU. Pratila sam tada sve sportove a posebno klizanje na ledu. Nastup ovog plesnog para uz "Bolero" ostao je zauvjek u mom sjecanju kao perfektan nastup uz najveće ocjene i osjecala sam da sam tada prisustvovala istorijskom trenutku. Imala sam 19godina i plakala sam od radosti....

I love sport where you have to take some pain and have some danger. Rugby or good quality cricket. But I stayed up 'till the early morning (like a lot of Brits) to watch this, and jumped in the air giving it a fist when the routine ended. Occasionally something special happens to make you forget everything and just enjoy the joy of something done to perfection. Wonderful memories

There will never be a more beautiful dance skating routine than this masterpiece, in my opinion. It was breathtaking. I still cry every time I see it. Thank you Jane & Chris. It was a moment in history I am so grateful to have witnessed. 🙏🏼🤍⛸️🥹

I remember: my first homework as a child in the British Council learning service (abroad) was about these 2 😂 I think this is how I start loving ice shows.

It still amazes me that people call this figure skating... It was stunning, but it was ice dancing. Utterly different category. It's like saying speed-skating is ice-hockey.

It's difficult to explain exactly why this performance was so special at the time. There were so many factors involved. However, I usually tell people that I was a teenaged boy from a rough background, who was only really interested in drugs, booze, girls, music and football at the time, yet even I was mesmerised by Torvill and Dean and their beautiful Bolero - as were all my friends. Torvill and Dean managed to capture the imagination of people who had traditionally had nothing to do with ice dancing, or indeed with any form of art. Everyone knew that something transcendental was happening, although few could explain it. It wasn't the most technically accomplished piece, It wasn't the most energetic, but it was the most sovereign, the most symbiotic and the most beautiful piece ever performed.

I remember the thrill of seeing this live 40 years ago. I recall having tears in my eyes at how beautiful they were. It hit me the exact way watching it again now. The 1984 Winter & Summer games were the absolute best ever!

I have to come back every few years and watch this. It always makes me cry, the only ice performance that always does. I remember watching it live with my mum 40 years ago, she's not around anymore but the memories will last forever.

For those who don't know. The WHOLE OF THE UK WATCHED THIS LIVE IT WAS HUGE. To show how big it was I watched with my husband and all his football mates, who knew nothing about skating but Chris and Jane had become so beloved. It was astonishing. People who'd never watched skating stayed up to watch.

40 years ago and NOBODY can even touch the artistry or choreography of this dual. I've always wondered why that is. This dance, the Pasadobla and the Revolution & Imagine routine and simply over the top. Thank you Dean and Jayne for giving us these gifts. There are enough 6s in the world to award you what you deserve.
