Hey Dave - sounds like a rough day, I hope they have been better since then. Over the last few weeks I've watched all of your videos and wanted you to know how much I've enjoyed them. I've got a CDL-A, work in a non-driving job, but do some local work from time to time (end dump - sand/gravel). I've never been OTR and your videos do a great job of showing the daily issues that you put up with. The mix of the drive view and storytelling is really well done, and you keep a surprisingly good attitude. I sure hope that you're doing OK and that driving is something you are able to make work for you. And if you keep doing videos, we'll all enjoy that too. Take care!

First and foremost dont ever calculate your pay by per hour it will only depress you and we have enough depression out here as it is. 2nd..you dont even have 6 months yet and i bet you they are feeling you out but on the other hand these 150,200 mile loads they give you, Hell no. Put your foot down and tell them you need miles those kind of runs are an insult and waste of your time. Communication with your FM goes a long ways "not always" but if hes a decent one talk to him tell him what you expect and need. And lastly......get your experience and go to a mega carrier KLLM,SWIFT,PRIME etc in this market right now they are the kings of freight as much as i hate to say it. Keep your eye on the prize, once u get that experience a whole other world will open up for you. At least 6 months if you cant last a year with them 6 months exp you can go to any mega.

these places really hurt this industry.. order too many trucks for what they can unload. Fortunately ive almost always been non forced dispatch so when i did encounter these types of places i marked them down as a no go again. but in the end, "thats trucking" . ups downs and all arounds. at least you had a spot to park. a lot of places like that wont even provide that or a bathroom. safe travels.

Being that you just started not to long ago they might just be feeling you out. As time goes on and they see you like to run they should bump your miles up if not mention it to them and see if they listen.

One your load changes from a drop & hook immediately notify your DM & start looking for a place to shut down early enough for you to make your delivery.Keep your truck well supplied you can stay anywhere. Look to see if the shipper or consignee allow parking. Take it as a lesson learned. 😊
