Management on every level brought down that Airline, mainly the Reservation Departments. They killed the Airline

I worked as an Aviation Maintenance Technician for NWA for almost 18 years, started in 1988. Started in MSP on the 727 check line, then the 747 check line. I transferred to ATL, worked in the Honeycomb shop, Door Shop, and the JT8D engine shop. Loved the job, and enjoyed the people I worked with. Sure do miss the Airline

RIP My Dad, Walter John Piszczek who had passed away last year from his last battle of Cancer. he was a Northwest Pilot, even though he told me he doesn't fly anymore, stories about how funny and entertaining he was tells me otherwise, his leagacy continues.

I know some will be surprised if I say this, but I actually didn’t mind the older NW 747-400/200 interior in economy. It always feels nice to be in an interior from the time flying was much happier. I don’t need an IFE to keep me busy on an airplane. But I guess I’m old school.

I was a flight attendant for NWA back in 1991-1993 in Memphis. I met some amazing people and I will always treasure my time with NWA. I was sad when I found out they were being acquired by Delta.

Thank you for sharing this--I still remember my last flight on Northwest Airlines (757-200 in the new colors to HNL). Had many great flights before then, and continued to have great experiences flying on ex-NW jets.

Delta took away my childhood. NWA was the airline of my youth and sparked my curiosity and interest in aviation. Yet, the memory of the airline, and its operations, still live on in the virtual world. Look up vNorthwest.net! I became a pilot for the virtual airline to somehow live the dream I always wanted before the merge. If you have a workable rig, and a well modified simulator, join them. You'll be glad you did, and we need more pilots!

I used to fly NWA out of DLH. In this video, they made a point of saying the merger would allow Delta to offer the best rate structure. If that's true, why is United so much cheaper out of DLH?
@wadeechtenkamp39393 жыл бұрын
Because Delta lied their ass off to everyone about the "benefits" of the "merger" starting right from then Delta CEO Richard Anderson.

We moved to MPLS/St. Paul (MSP) from Waterbury CT in the late 80s, after I was born. Dad (6'3" Norwegian guy, Kjell Jr, from Brooklyn) got a job as an aircraft mechanic for years until the beginning of the damn Delta Buyout that began in 2005, Dad taking his severance pay and walked... He died 4 days from his 49th bday, a fortnight from my homecoming from AIT @ Fort Gordon GA Aug.5.2009 (same summer as MJ).

My dad, being a NY'er and all, had 8 friends killed on 9/11, also a HUGE Believer of it being "Inside/r-trading" (meaning 9/11 was indeed an inside job, preceded by insider-trading at the NYSE just a day-so prior). He broke...everything in my childhood house before I got home from school that day in Cottage Grove MN...

Ground made a big deal out of nothing. This would not have happened if ground had common sense to know the pilot is new then issue him PROGRESSIVE TAXI to terminal.
@officergregorystevens57656 жыл бұрын
I had an issue today with a rude Canadian controller at CYCC I think it was... never had been there and using FS2004 so I had a really old runway layout and taxiway layout thus of course... the controller was made too because I unknowingly was talking to myself and swearing while hotkeyed .. which was not intentional.

@PikalaxALT11 жыл бұрын
Personal stab aside, the motto of Vatsim is "As Real As It Gets". Sure, you're allowed to be a newbie, but at least come in with some idea of what to expect. There's plenty of free resources on the Internet - terminal procedure charts from FlightAware, interactive enroute charts from SkyVector, KZbin videos (I highly recommend watching musicalaviator's flights in both US and AUS), and the Vatsim Forums - for a new pilot to explore. That's how I became familiar with IFR procedures on Vatsim.
@swedishblackopsgamers118811 жыл бұрын
Everyone has been a newbie sometime and it's just a simulator not real life they don't have to train Before using vatsim or anything like that so just stop with that stupid shit you're saying and why do you call them the big boys well you aren't so big using a pokemon as a profile picture

The Red Tail... got me flying. And- hey what a fine ride it was. I enjoyed most every day there. It embodied a period in time that too has gone. The greatest airline there ever was, achieving milestones others are quick to claim for themselves. But we the Red Tail Family- have something to be proud of till the end of time- our history. Keep your head up, stand tall and let's never forget those 84 years of Northwest and the Red Tail. In our memories the sun will never set on Northwest Airlines.

Ur words could not be any truer! Delta calls its self a family but, I never felt more at home than the 1st 3 years of my career @NWA! The history was so rich and deep and the ppl so proud, I just don’t know how to explain it. This DL proud BS will never compare.... Redtail forever!!!!!
