Unfortunate news has struck; I discovered it from my brother just 20 minutes ago. The voice of Kessler here in Infamous and Arpeggio from the sly cooper games , Sam A. Mowry , had passed away 4 days ago.

I like how there’s a bunch of different crazy powers that allow for the player to experiment and figure out their play style. I find it kind of funny how these abilities are tied to morality, despite the fact that they’d realistically kill someone either way. It’s too bad that Sony doesn’t really care about preserving their legacy. They should REALLY make remastered collections/enhanced ports bundled together of a lot of their older games. Then they should be brought to PS5 and pc. That way more people will be able to play them. From what I’ve heard there was somewhat of a rivalry between Prototype and Infamous. I’m not entirely sure if that’s accurate. I’ve recently been playing Prototype and those two games are a blast.

I'd definitely rebuy the remastered collections. I have yet to play Prototype but it does look very similar.

I watched a play through of the first two games, and I’m at the abandoned mining town filled with feral Chimera in terms of viewing. I thought it was interesting how they changed those things throughout the series. In the first game it’s this large boss, but it sadly isn’t very dynamic and just goes down after you damage it enough. It doesn’t have any weak spots to exploit like other giant bosses in other games do. It’s a cool moment, but it doesn’t seem to have the same weight. I’m sure if I were to actually play the game it would be different. In the second game killing one is one of the first things they have the player do. This has the dual effect of making the player feel cool, while also reducing the threat those pose in the player’s mind. I LOVE how from what I’ve seen so far if the third game they actually feel like a threat because you’re instructed to hide from them, and just barely escape. That’s a good way to make this thing feel truly dangerous. In a way it’s kind of like how in Halo 2, 3, and ODST you destroy the Scarabs. But, Reach turns them into these thing s you just flee from and have no hope of winning against, and one part where it gets taken down is CERY costly to the characters. I like it when a game makes something that should be a major threat be truly dangerous. I know Killzone 3 has a giant robot. But, haven’t gotten around to watching play throughs, and sadly haven’t played them because growing up I just had Shrexbox and Farqtendo (yes, I just made a dumb Shrek pun out of Xbox and Nintendo. No, I will not apologize because then I’d have to make another apology for lying about being sorry😂). Some of my friends growing up had PlayStation stuff and I’d usually play some of the games they had whenever I’d go to their houses. I remember Little Big Planet 2 and the multiplayer Ratchet and Clank being a blast. Too bad Sony abandoned so many of their great franchises. What they should do is have MCC (Master Chief Collection) style remastered collections/enhanced ports bundled together of their older games for PS5/PC. Then they could see if there’s demand for new entries from those franchises. Also, if the PS5 had backwards compatibility with the previous consoles I’d buy one yesterday. Sadly, it just has that for PS4. As it stands I don’t have a super big incentive to buy one since a lot of the games I’d want to player are on older consoles.

It’s too bad that Sony abandoned so many of their old franchises. They have so many great games that sadly aren’t being preserved/made accessible to more people. They should really make MCC (Master Chief Collection) style remastered collections/enhanced ports bundled together of their old games, and put them on PS5/PC. Then they could see if there’s demand for new entries. I really like the premise of Resistance. Having an alternate version of WW2 with aliens is a cool idea. Apparently, there’s two books set in the world and I’ve heard they’re pretty good. I’m guessing it’s similar to the Halo books that are good where if you’re a fan of the series you’ll enjoy reading stories that make the world feel more fleshed out, but if you’re not a big fan there sadly isn’t much there for you. I’m assuming based on your channel’s description you’ll eventually cover Killzone. That will be cool to see. Good luck with that👍
@Victarooni4 ай бұрын
Yes they definitely have lots of good franchises. I tend to buy remasters of older games that I grew up with. Yes the lore in Resistance is definitely pretty cool. I was always intrigued by the chimera. Yes I’ll eventually get to Killzone. Thank you for that! It’s very much appreciated.
@shreksnow19184 ай бұрын
I like how the Chimera’s forces are comprised mostly of mutated humans and animals. It allows for the designers to make twisted versions of things that already exist, and have body horror since the creatures you’re fighting were once people.

Too bad they didn’t add weapon upgrades until the third game. That would’ve been a cool way to further reward experimenting with guns. It’s also too bad that the second game replaced the weapon wheel with the two weapon limit. In Halo it works because throughout the levels they’ll have weapon/ammo pick ups for the various guns, and you can swap weapons with the ai to make them more useful. Resistance 2 doesn’t have that, and it goes against what the first game set up. Thankfully, 3 restored the weapon wheel. I like how Insomniac went crazy with the human and alien weapons. Some of them function like your standard fps guns, while others are super unique.
@Victarooni4 ай бұрын
Weapon upgrades would have been neat for sure. I’ve always enjoyed the weapons found in the Resistance series. They are unique for sure.
@shreksnow19184 ай бұрын
Yeah. I like how the human guns are relatively normal, but they also have something mechanically interesting about their place in the sandbox. Halo does this as well where a lot of the human guns are relatively normal, but there’s also some unique human weapons, and the alien weapons get kind of crazy. The human guns also use ammo and you reload them, while most alien guns are plasma/energy and you swap them out with weapons that have a higher battery percentage instead of getting more ammo for them. It’s a cool way to make the weapons feel different. Unfortunately, as the series went on they began to throw in more counterpart guns that function very similarly to each other. Thankfully, various rebalance mods have made the sandbox more unique by giving each weapon a clear role in the sandbox. CE has one of the best sandboxes because every gun has a use and they don’t really step on each other’s toes. Although, I would’ve preferred a few more weapons be added. Half-Life also has a mix of relatively normal guns, and ones that get crazy. Sadly, the second game doesn’t have as many experimental/alien weapons as the first did. It’s also too bad that a lot of the crazy enemies that were in the Beta didn’t make it into the retail game. Even with those drawbacks Half-Life 2/Episodes are super fun and worth playing. Both Halo MCC and Half-Life will run really well on a decent Windows laptop since most of the Halos in that collection were made for the original Xbox/360, and Half-Life was designed for PCs from the late 90s/early 2000s. Even the weaker computers we have now outclass what they had back then. MCC regularly goes on sale for 75% off on Steam, and Half-Life will go for 80-90% off and if you buy the Half-Life Complete bundle it makes it even cheaper (comes with everything but the VR spinoff/prequel Alyx). There’s a lot of really fun games on Steam you should try out.
