Fujimori creates these very folksy, almost deliberately "country" style works of architecture. This one is way out there in that regard. It is a bold but powerful statement. And just like other Japanese architects of his generation, he understands the fundamental quality of presence in architecture. Amazing.
Fascinating -- Yusuhara, like Naoshima, are must see destinations for modern architects and students of architecture. This may be the most remote location you have visited -- a tiny mountain town with world-class architecture by Kuma. Kuma-san will win the Pritzker within the next 3 years.

Although it was very far away, it is a place that makes me feel glad to have come every time. It was quite a sight to see, and I spent a whole day walking around looking at Kengo Kuma's architecture.

Thank you for this video -- as a result I have much more respect for Fujimori's work than previous. I remember seeing photos of the La Collina bldg. when it was first built in 2015 with the roof yet to be covered in green, and just thought it was another odd Fujimori structure. Now thanks to your video, we can experience this dramatic entry sequence with a "green hill structure". The scale and angle of the roof is very intriguing and the interior detailing is well-done. It feels very peaceful there, set within the countryside, a completely unique experience.

Thank you for visiting. I also appreciate your comments. Terunobu Fujimori's works are all unique and interesting. I would like to feature his works on this channel, but his works are located in places where transportation is inconvenient.
The main community building is brilliant. The flanking 2- story hotel rooms feel a bit out of place, like post-tsunami prefab structures, however overall one can see a high level of skill and ingenuity. Thank you.
@ArchitecturalMagazineАй бұрын
That's right. The interior of the room is nice, but the exterior is a little plain.

So interesting. Ban has done many museums in his career, many of them more progressive and innovative, but this is his best. It's more mature, more composed, more resolved -- this is quite possibly his best work, the hand of a master.

Toyota City Museum will open in April 2024. It can be said to be Shigeru Ban's latest work. This is a work that gives you a sense of maturity, making use of your past experiences.

His houses shouldn't be overlooked. His Curtain Wall House from 1995 is really striking, for example. Though Japanese architects in general produce these kinds of works on a daily basis.

One of the more beautiful sites for a museum in Japan. The architecture is perhaps too controlled and formal, but it is beautiful nonetheless.
This building was finished in 1997, but show Tange's strong Metabolist roots from the '60's. Thank you for the video.

Thank you. You really know architecture. It is also a work of Kenzo Tange's coming of age.

Classic Japanese Post-Metabolist architecture from Atelier Zoo (Dream) using regional motifs in a modern way. It is amazing how well-maintained this project appears after close to 50 years (built in 1975).

Hiroyuki Wakabayashi comes from Japan's bubble economy period of architecture, usually rendered in fantastical post-modern styles. This project is more disciplined and feels like a Roman monument -- thank you for the video.

Thank you for your comment. I am always amazed at the depth of knowledge that Japanese architects have. This Uji Station is a masterpiece of architecture by Hiroyuki Wakabayashi, and as you said, it feels disciplined.

Wow -- this may be Heatherwick's best project for his entire career. The craftsmanship is impeccable, and every detail is considered and integrated into the total design concept. This type of project may not happen again -- the costs of construction were immense, but it was realized and you have done a great job of capturing it. This is worth viewing several times.

It was a very valuable experience, as Heatherwick's works are few and far between in Japan. It is such a huge structure, yet beautiful in every detail.

Even though this building is somewhat conservative in Toyoo Ito's body of work, this is one of his best projects. It seems to convey more to the users of the building. You might have had more shots of the exterior, which has a nice overall proportion and the iconic circle. Thank you for this video.

Very mysterious -- the chapel has become an art gallery, and the entrance is now a dirt trail through weeds. In a way, it makes the experience of the building more interesting. The entire entry sequence is sophisticated, from the wall to the steps to the semicircular landing to the glassed corridor -- well done Mr. Ando.
