i disagree with blindly stating "if Shaq had Kobe's mentality he would close the goat discussion" the thing is we can't be sure how it would turn out for him, maybe he overworks his huge body and ends up with half the career he ended up having (pretty much like Yao Ming)

0:14 Calling Shaq "arguably the greatest center" really hurts your credibility right out of the gate. Better than Bill Russel, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar or Hakeem Olajuwon? No way! And you know who agrees with me on that? Shaq himself! So Shaq is probably the fifth best center in the history of basketball. This means he isn't even in the top 10 for best player. Not even sure about top 15.

Detroit wasn't contending for a chip if Iverson came off the bench. He needs a lot of shots in his late career due to refs holding the whistle due to being assholes. Coming off the bench was stupid. Send him to the Lakers and make him come off the bench. A team that's sitting mid in the playoffs? No, he can start and you use the income he brought in during Free Agency....just a ridiculous idea. A team struggling to be in championship contention is asking ALLEN IVERSON to come off the bench after AvG over 29PPG with Denver with high Steals and Assist.

The benchmark for all-star power forwards in the '90s was 20&10. Shawn Kemp was a superstar, one of the young faces of the league during the MJ era of dominance, but strangely, he never quite achieved 20.0ppg in Seattle, the closest he got was his best season, 95/96, when his avg was 19.6ppg, but he did avg just under 12 boards with 11.9rpg that same season, his career high.

I think when it comes to draft picks and trades since around 2010, I feel like that comes down to both smart GMs valuing draft picks more, and also looking at the trades in the late 2000's and early 2010's. So you look at say the Ray Allen/Keven Garnett trades and they had a lot of players, but obviously neither package really lined up with those players, and both the Sonics and Timberwolves were on the path to rebuild afterwards. Look at the Carmelo trade and there are a lot of picks almost by nessesity, but also young players and ultimately those picks and players lead to the one year of Andre Iggodala, but also to pieces of the 2023 championship team. The Dwight Howard trade included draft picks that all went to the Magic, and even if they didn't come out of it well, they came out of it far better than anyone else (getting the best player not on a one or no year deal helped as well). And to stop it getting too long, you have the three Nets trades. The one for Deron Williams was mostly a few first rounders and a young Derrick Favors, which while the Jazz doesn't do much with it, there is a lot of potential there for creating a great team. They then traded for Gerald Wallace from Portland with a draft pick that became Damian Lillard (second year a star guard being drafted with a pick in a bad trade). Then just because they hadn't learned their lessons, they traded the farm to Boston that directly built their current team. If you look at that and understand what resulted, you can understand why teams like OKC demanded so many picks when breaking up the Paul George/Russell Westbrook teams, and then with how that has continued to drive how modern star trades are going.
