Hey there, thanks for giving it a watch. I've done many, many home bases here, it's always my main. So this time I decided to have my Survivor a little unwell in the head. He took his inspiration from Pickman, lol. Building it though, think of it as a collage of threats found in the Commonwealth. A reflection of it's many ways to die. So if one wants to get from one point of safety to another, they have to swim through a little slice of Commonwealth hell to reach it. More of a horror house build just cause I felt like doing something different, and because I know GameTownWalk-thru would be expecting something much more nice in appearance to her challenge. I've always got to twist it somehow, lol. Thanks again, and great build you created at Home Plate as well! I was watching it's evolution as you built it. Great finished work!

Wow it has only taken me one month to catch up on this build... I thought it strange that I saw your "lower town" video and then there seemed to be nothing for the rest. Now I know that YT was holding out on me! Anyways, issues with YT algorithms aside, this is an amazing build! Did you place all those floors down seemingly across the whole site and then build on top of them to get that boardwalk effect that fits so seamlessly into the build? Surely you didn't place them down after the fact in amongst all those buildings??? Whatever the case, it is an awesome look and well worth the large amount of work that obviously went into creating this masterpiece!
@OctumLXV
@OctumLXV 23 күн бұрын
lol, I know what you mean by YT skippin' out videos. And thanks, I appreciate ya'! As for all the walkway flooring and such, was kind of a mix. Everything around the Switch House I placed first, leveled around that base to give me the building heights over the ground slope and to line up everything else behind it, then I just gave it some tweaks and scraps to scrappy it up, lol. In all the other instances I worked the pathways in to work with what was there. It took me about 2 months to get just this side figured out and put together and I gotta say, as mind-numbingly painful as it was to work out this build, it's hands down my favorite out of any other I've done here. And thanks again.

Wow! Another one knocked out of the park!! Placing all those bottle lanterns in the trees must have been a real patience tester. But it was worth it! And those four lanterns in the water around the purifier look absolutely beautiful! This is definitely one time where the gloomy weather was def an advantage! Loads and loads of other details, as usual for your builds! I am always in awe of what you manage to accomplish.

I thank you for that, truly. Once I figured out what I wanted to do with the place it came together pretty smoothly. And yeah, those bottle lanterns, I set them all from ground level then later went in with ladders and platforms all over that swamp just to make sure they were all sitting on the branches right. OCD kicking in, but that goes for the whole place overall, lol. Thanks again, much appreciated.

A fantastic looking build! Jamaica Plain is a miserable site to work with, unless you've expanded the borders like you have done here. I am currently running a RR playthrough and am in the process of building Mercer on Spectacle Island (a first for me!). So it is really interesting to look over your take on a RR build and a good way to inspire myself with ideas for the rest of the settlement. 🤔 Looking forward to seeing where you go to next and what you get up to once you are there.
@OctumLXV
@OctumLXV Ай бұрын
Yo', and thanks! Yeah, the site can be pretty unfun. That expansion mod actually gives you the entire city area to build in, all I wanted was to build that one block, lol. I've wanted to do that forever cause that just makes more sense. For the RR, that's been a hard one cause the game gives nothing of substance to work with. They use what's there and apparently build nothing. That's why every instance of RR presence I've just quietly slipped into an "existant settlement". This one I had to dig for. Had to be self sufficient, guarded and defensible, a touch more advanced looking than the normal hovel. Organized, but not military. Went through a few stages before I got to this but I think it worked out. As for next, just got a new rig and the Jamaica Plains build was the one file I was able to save from the old rig. Was able to match the mods and finish it out but now I need to start a new game and run through the whole main quest. That being the case I'll probably do something up north.

I thank you, my friend. I appreciate! That produce store is the only store at Oberland. I figured that their main thing was being a farm, like my Tenpines build, so the only thing the sell here is their crops. Their main business coming from the caravan traders because of the trade route right through the place. As for lower Oberland, I put it out first, a week or so ago, here's the link. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWq6cqaagtaSppY It's more spread out so not as crowded. That is where most of the people who work the Upper station live/sleep, and there's a little crop area they work as well. It's where the dirty work of living is, so it's a bar and housing, a little jail cell for the overly strung out folk to sleep it off safely, etc. Being a first time build on that spot I really like how it turned out and there was a couple of fun spots I got to play with angles to build. I had to build it on a separate save from this one to keep the build size limits from affecting each other. Worked out well, I just wish I could pull that trick on other sites, lol.

Thought you'd like the bathrooms, it went from me forgetting about them here to having 2, lol. And yeah, the Cafe is short a box of Corn Flakes, the shipment from Deadpines didn't get there in time, lol. As for Cait, she's picked up the power of teleportation because she appears by me wherever I go. And I think she was eyeballin' that dude for giving me a little lip when I went up, though that spin snub afterwards was like, what up? At the end I wanted to put in a slide down the ladder cause those are always fun, but the fly-out was the better option. I had a similar thought for Hangman's, different use but I thought about it, unfortunately, there's no room underneath it. There's a little bit but there's multiple water planes under the surface so there's very little head room to do anything good, plus the many layers of ground pieces they used, they all have collisions and block you. You can do a little bit in Hangman's behind/inside the buildings that line the alley, I did that in my Hangman's build. I had to do it all outside the build zone and use Place Everywhere to do it and Scrap Everything to open the wall up to get in there.

And I don't know if it was your intention, but filming it during a Rad Storm has worked really well for showcasing your lighting, especially interior lighting. The detailing is awesome, as always! I particularly like the "home" in the boat that is partially submerged on the coast. It really looks believable the way you have jury-rigged the bed etc at an angle like that. My reaction five seconds into the video as the camera backs out to reveal that the build goes all the way down to the water, "HOLY COW!!!!" Wow, you really have expanded Oberland something fierce!! How do you deal with the enemy spawn points that are on that western side of the tracks? Have you found a way to get rid of them? Or have you just got some other plan for enemies that would spawn "inside" your settlement? Whatever the case, I am super impressed with the work you have put into this location so far! And that's the bit that really blows my mind... There's more to come yet... 🤯
@OctumLXV
@OctumLXV 2 ай бұрын
Hey there, and thanks! Yeah, I took it to the full size available with the expanded site. Doesn't change much N-S, it's all on that W side, out to just a little beyond where my water purifiers are. I was hesitant to do it big because of those spawn points as you know, but honestly, in the end, it's really not that bad. One attack from a common BOS patrol spawn. It's fly by triggered my defenses and that was it. Blew it away of course, on the second part fly thru I pass the first bonfire I moved and on the ground by it is the body of a BOS soldier that survived the crash but then sucummed to steel poisoning, lol. So yeah, I just said screw it! The only way the build was going to work was to build it spread out and big. So I did. And so far, nothing has popped up that the turrets haven't taken care of before I can even exit build mode. As for more, the structural work is pretty much done so it's basically all down to the deco work and how hardcore I want to push the site, lol. Maybe test how far I can push the upgrade, lol.

That log fence, at first I was thinking about stacking up some cars there, but then with all the dead tree's around I was like, oh, log fence, duh! Turned out half-azzed looking enough to look like the settler's could do it, lol. And yeah, I have a mod that expands the build size of the settlements. Here, it's expanded from East to West. So the North/South boundaries are the same but I can now build out to the water on that West side. Unfortunately that's area is an active enemy spawn point so I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that..., . The feed trough, well that whole spot is for the Caravan traders so I figure it's up to them to take care of their own, though they do have turret protection from the main settlement so they're fine, lol. I think that pie shaped building is going to be a med vendor. All those front caged counters are going to be vendors. From the pie building down, Meds, weapons/armor, then further down, food/bar/ maybe some general goods. Sitting on a main travel route it's the perfect place for a strip mall setup, lol. And the HUD, lol, I wondered if you'ld notice. I've got it set up on a hotkey now so I don't have to go into console command everytime to turn it on and off. Much easier to play around with. This looks promising. I love the logs stacked "randomly" forming a border of the settlement at the start of the video. I don't think I have ever seen a log "fence" done quite like that in any other Fo4 video...🤔 Also I adore the water tower and ruined corner of a building that, at least in this version of reality, stood beside the tracks pre-the Great War. It's a shame that more of the railway stations don't have more buildings/ruins beside them like this one. Nice touch. And the ambience that you have created with that soft orangey lighting makes for a warm inviting looking place... Well it would, if it weren't for that sinister looking mist pooling at the low point of the settlement (at least on that side of the tracks). Also I am curious to see what you do with the rest of those buildings west of the tracks down towards the water. Now that I have a mod or two that expand on the area around settlements that I can build in, I am interested to see what you do to see if it sparks any ideas for me. Overall a really nice looking base for your creative genius to go wild in when it comes to decorating. Great work my friend! 👌

I appreciate that, thank you! My usual here is a big fort with a high concrete wall surrounding the place so this is a departure for me. I started to put up some high walls on the S. side and was immediately like, nope! lol. That log wall was a whim. I couldn't find anything that was working over there, saw some logs and wondered if I could make a log fence. It worked and looks like something the npc's would do so there you go. In my head-lore for the site it's along a major travel/caravan route so the settlers are mainly traders backed by the farm, independent of any faction support. So a make-place settlement with reasonable defenses. The number of settlers yet to be determined, lol. I had to tone down that mist in the back, was way to prominent on review and made it more a low-hanging ground mist. That light is a big reason I like those Rust Devil looking torches, a brighter glow than the vanilla street oil lamps and with more body to it than the usual stark white lights. More natural. I agree with you on the rail stations, especially with this one. Even knowing what it looks like I still expect to see more when I go there. So I'm building on that thought a little bit, giving more of a foundation, as it were, for an expanded settlement on the other side of the tracks, lol. Still not sure about it though since that area is a big enemy spawn point. And yeah, I have an expanded settlements mod. I find that even if I don't use all the extra area, having it available really does a lot for sparking the imagination with new possibilities. In all, for this, I wanted to show the bones of the place before I put the skin on it, to show what I built to start with. Now it's a matter of figuring out everyone's lives and how they're living them. Easy, lol. Thanks again, we'll see where it goes...

You have become a master of "Wasteland Chic". This is a great Wasteland camp that feels entirely at home in the wastes of the Commonwealth. I love the idea of putting planking on top of the vanilla glasshouse to put a solar array up there, with the added bonus of having extra space for turrets for security. I have ever thought to put anything on top of the vanilla structure in that way. Yet it makes so much sense when you see it. Yet another incredible addition to your growing portfolio of works.

Hey there, and thank you, my friend! High praise. My goal with this run has been to make the builds look exactly that way, like they were there long before my guy came along, so I really appreciate that! For the TP, lol, I don't even know why I started that, just sometimes I feel like they need a roll next to their chair or something, lol, ya' know, to blow their nose maybe, lol. The cryo box, yeah, I did that 1st at the RR grill build and thought it would be perfect here. Have to sink the bottles into the case so it looks like it's really holding them. Would be a nice bed side accessory wouldn't it? lol.

@OctumLXV
@OctumLXV 3 ай бұрын
Hey there, and thanks! As for getting Bunker Hill, it's a process so here's the Nukapedia blurb "Upon completing the quest The Battle of Bunker Hill, the player character can unlock this settlement by speaking to Kessler. Alternatively, the settlement can be unlocked if the Sole Survivor gets banished from the Institute, or simply refuses to consider joining the Institute during the quest Institutionalized; this method also requires Kessler's quest Prep School to be completed. Talk to Kessler after both conditions are met." In this case though I wanted to buff up the defense here before doing Battle of Bunker Hill so I used a no quest mod to get it early. 'No Settlement Quests All DLC'.

It's pleasant to see Bunker hill settlement build from time to time. It seems like this location along with some others often gets overlooked by builders. Maybe because it is kinda messy and there is an already existing settlement here. But you did a great job detailig and improoving the place while keeping the vibe. All this little interiors cells are very cozy and detailed. Unfortunenatly I have to limit myself with interior details to keep fps at managable level, so its nice to see so much work put into details!)

I usually don't do much here either, but for this game run I've got going I have the Battle of Bunker Hill quest up next and more than anything else I really wanted to see this place kick everybodies azz! Which led to wanting to make the place like it could defend itself. And then to alive and thriving, You never know what's going to kick off a build, lol. I haven't run the battle yet, but I'm going to record it.

Other than that the update was/is pretty cool, except for the usual Bugthesda fun and games.. lol. Prob for me is that the mod author for PE hasn't been around on Nexus for several yrs so the odds are low that he will be around any time soon to update the mod to the new script extender. That's alright though, I've got my work around. I would imagine that you should be okay, hopefully...

Thank you, my friend, I appreciate! The goal going into this was to enhance the vibe they hinted at with the vanilla, and add just a little extra to liven the place up, lol. I don't do many builds here either because, yeah, it's very limiting with what you can do in the space given. On this one what really drove it was while trying to figure out how they would logically get up on the roof to build. The scaffolding. At that point I went with it, lol.
