You could probably remove some of the phone-holdy bits from the rear compartment and hide an Echo Dot in there to make the radio pretty functional.

It's cool to see the Speed Champions theme clearly making a bit of a comeback this year, though the sets don't feel nearly as interesting outside the first wave. The first wave was cool and had some super unique building techniques that I liked with cool cars and a new company, my only real complaint was the BMW set's sticker count. The Lamborghini is cool, the Merc twin pack feels like a welcome change with a more "everyday" car included and the Aston twin pack feels a little lackluster since both cars are a bit _too_ similar to previously seen ones. It's cool to see more F1 love from Lego, but I think it would've worked better if they went for an older F1 and an older safety car to shake things up a bit, as the Vantage (as pointed out) is too similar to the one in the Valkyrie twin pack and the F1 has minimal differences to the McLaren. The lack of classic cars is a little bit of a let down so far too, so I'm kinda hoping we'll see some classic car love in the 2 rumored August releases elseway this will probably be the first year since the switch to 8 studs that we haven't seen a classic car show up.

That's nice. I'll have to add that to my collection. As always, your builds and opinions are greatly appreciated.

I'm already thinking of ways you could add a bluetooth speaker in it or even a real transistor radio. Removing the sound brick gives space for a speaker and the smartphone slot would be space for a circuit board. Kits for either can be easily found online, it would just be a challenge making them work with the knobs. You'd have to run a piece of string from the front dial to the tuner inside. A good quality radio kit should even have adjustments to make the Lego dial work accurately.

This looks like an absolutely fantastic and entertaining build experience--very little repetition, and lots of clever and advanced build techniques! 😊 Edit: Can't wait to see someone substitute the Harry Potter Sorting Hat sound brick! 😂

Really liked this set from the initial reveals. Unique build, fun, and functional, and looks amazing when all assembled and displayed. Price is also great for the parts selection, printed pieces, and additional sound brick. The hard click when switching between channel as it should be white noise or static would be my only complaint but other than that one I'm definitely eager to pick up.

Looks good but a real radio is cheaper - and a real radio works too !

Contraption with orange and white balls represent tuning light (magic eye tube) found on old radios, which is a light that its brightness increases when a successful tuning is achieved. In here, similar function used for tuning the sound brick itself.

yeah why they dont sell an tower only pack for 100 bucks, i would buy it 3 times to make it insane big. But buying 3 copies, and selling the parts on bricklink, is way to much and complex.

The rover is definitely the most interesting.

Nice model. My only complaint is the dial moves opposite to the direction it should, they needed to add a second gear to reverse that.
