10 inches of snow is nothing Where I used to live in north Idaho there was a region known as the snow belt of that area, average yearly snow fall was about 5 feet, but we had a real bad winter 94-95 and I had 11 yes 11 feet of snow in my front yard, and in the mountains out here it isn't all that uncommon to get like 14 feet in a normal winter.

I've used my 04 Yamaha bear tracker 250 2wd plowing a foot of snow on the ground and of course it's more when pushing it and it's done a great job. I haven't used chains or extra weight at all. 10 yrs of hard snow plowing and still runs great. So yes you can in fact use 2wd. The plow pushes u a path so your actually not going through the foot of snow. I also have my blade right on the ground, don't have those circles on each side of plow raising the blade. This should help answer questions. I live in MI and were surrounded by 5 Great Lakes so yes we get a lot of lake effect.

Does the blade or the skid stands have direct contact with the ground while plowing? Thanks

Absolutely 4wd! Makes all the difference in traction. Do not waste your money on 2wd for plowing.

4 wheel Drive???? Do you necessarily need a four wheel drive for plowing snow with an ATV or can a two wheel drive handle the job? thanks

Those Honda's are probably the best for snowplowing, you don't have to worry much about breaking belts.

Nice set up. I have a 2004 rancher 350 fm4. I stated plow first day I got it still runs good. I plowed some many drive ways with it at $25.00 a pop. It paid for my rancher plus I bought a 2012 Honda Foreman with the money left over. Here in Toledo Ohio we don't get that kinda snow tho like the belt around Cleveland. No Snow No money.. NIce video

Put chains on and you could take full blade width and depth at once I put them on my rubicon It made it almost unstoppable now. It is so impressive what an 800 lb machine can do I was shocked I never thought I could get rid of my snowblower but I was wrong

@cole300 you mean the whole winch set-up? I'll have to ask Doug (we use each other's accounts interchangeably). He uses Amsteel blue rope (8,000 lb strength) for the winch.

@gamerjosh91 You are aware that there's different types of snow aren't you? Maybe your uncle's Dodge was trying to push 'wet' snow which would, of course, be harder to move. With a smaller vehicle, like say, an ATV we can definitely tell the difference between pushing 'wet' snow and 'dry' snow. A continuous wet snow requires narrower strokes /more strokes. My husband is 6'4" and the snow easily comes up 12" up his leg. Ur a 'gamer'? This is real life, not a snow plowing game.

I am using Amsteel blue rope for winch in the video. The factory cable will break within a day or two. This is my third year with the new rope and no problems yet. I got the 8,000 lbs strength. Hope this helps. And no I cannot plow 2 feet at one time unless you peal the corners like an union.

@rosscopeeko1 Yes I seem to remember we did have probs with the first few feet of the winch cable. There's some strong rope the hubs bought to take care of it. I'll ask him and reply to you again.
