Do you use this gizmo directly on the greenscreen video? Because I don't see you using Keylight to key that video. Also, did you generate the alpha using Keylight too or how? I am a beginner in Nuke.
@GavinWhittaker
@GavinWhittaker 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mircea, thanks for the question. in the video you can see me putting the despill straight onto the greenscreen - this is where you place the despill - you then copy in the alpha and premult before merging over a background. when it comes to pulling the key to make the alpha - that is a separate process and you can use whichever way you like so long as the alpha that you make is copied in after the despill. the reason I don't show that in the video is because the method to make the alpha doesn't matter as far as despill goes. Hope that helps!

Hey bro i think this is amazing from what i see it could do, but i having a hard time installing this in Nuke, Im using windows and once I istall this in the .nuke folder if gives me an error. GW_Despill_v2 unknown command can you please help me.
@GavinWhittaker
@GavinWhittaker 2 жыл бұрын
If you are having issues installing it might be easier just to toolset. Do do that just open the gizmo with txt editor. Select all --> copy... open nuke then paste. That should get the gizmo in as a group.. then just set as toolset (toolset menu on the left of screen). Then you should be sweet... how that helps dude.

@GavinWhittaker
@GavinWhittaker 2 жыл бұрын
Hmm. It should work fine. There's literally nothing new in terms of nodes. I think it could be related to how I've exported. I always change from gizmo into group after I export. But I think I uploaded the gizmo version to nukepedia. It should still work though if you ignore any warnings. In the meantime I'll correct that and re-upload a grouped version at some point today.

When in the viewer, H to (home) fit to screen. More viewer shortcuts - R for Red channel, B for Blue channel, G for Green channel, A for Alpha Channel, Y for Luminance channel. Q to turn on or off overlays. When in the node graph, F to fit to screen. Node graph - C for Colour Correct node and P for RotoPaint node... Also, CTRL+SHIFT, then drag and drop to replace a node with another in the pipe. Those - and the ones you mentioned, are the ones that I use the most!

Wow, that's a great feature. I came across it by accident while using only despill madness. I was working inconveniently using the alpha channel and constant node for the details, but it's a very good gizmo. I have been teaching Nuke in south korea for 10 years. I want to teach my students about this amazing gizmo in Korean. Can I make this gizmo introduction content with my personal blog or KZbin video?

There is no easy way to do that without python scripting. However, there is a tool on nukepidea (www.nukepedia.com/python/ui/shortcut-editor) that should help **it doesn't work with v13 though**)

i'd be very careful about the colour map use for reference .. for ex .. if you have a blue light from a screen, it will show all blue on your actor .. however that light would never affect the background to any visible extent .. adding blue to the BG in that context would be a false positive :)
@GavinWhittaker
@GavinWhittaker 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Mihai. Thanks for the comment. It's a great point and I do agree. You have to be careful what you match to. On the full write up on how to use the helper on my website I do caution that very thing and not blindly matching the colours 😀 the idea of the gizmo is that it's an aid, a helper. There's never a substitute for the artist 😉
