I hope I can jam as well on mine as you just did here. 😊 I got mine on the last black Friday deals and paid about the same. Even for a novice like me, she still sounds pretty. Though I changed out the tuners, and put a set of those Billy Gibbons Mexican 7ga strings on it.

I've been eyeballing one of these myself since discovering it online, and now I'm at the KZbin stage of my research and enjoyed your review! Unfortunately bad timing for me as I'm on a fixed income and just paid my semi-annual property taxes. July and January - the two worst months of the year thanks to taxes and the worst weather extremes. But I digress. Nice to see a fellow three finger technique player! That's the way I learned back in the early 70's, never really developed that fourth finger other than for chords of course. Learned the three finger style for leadwork from the old masters - really enjoyed watching, and hearing you play that beautiful guitar - keep it up Old Boy!

I think you should give it another go, the channel I mean. I made a video for other potential guitar KZbinrs not too long ago about coming across a great video of a guitar channel that may be a couple years old that you think is awesome.....then you go to see their latest stuff and they are signing off saying it didn't work out. I know I'm just starting off , and know how hard work it is. Hope you start again because you were precisely what I meant. I didn't subscribe because I saw your signing off video. But Im subing now hoping to see more.

Those les paul 100s are solid guitars .(especially the early handmade ones from Indonesia with the metal epiphone plate at the back)..it could be worth changing the pickups just for live performance (though they are good for bedroom performers and pub nights)...they get10 times better with grover tuners and a tremolo unit ...it feels good and are fun guitars ...not to heavy the body is cut like the early 1950s unbound goldtops ....I'm actualy planning to put p90s in mine and painting it gold...I may see other epiphone bolt on knecks ...but its a very good base for upgrading.

..i dont like that they don't match the color of the Woods they glue together for the body, ..on any of them, which they should do if it's going to be a clear coat rather than a solid Color. Mismatched wood like that i would Paint. I know it's just aesthetic, but aestheticly to my eye it looks like sht.

I think the buzzing is a grounding issue. I have a Telecaster Contemporary with a rail humbucker pickup that had the same issue.I took it a part and redid the grounding. Thanks for the cool Fusion Demo Dan.

Unfortunately i live in Australia & have tried to get a Blackstar carry on since last year ! And they were around $700. Congrats on your bonnie bargain ! Blackstar seems to have shipped oodles of them to USA. Great anecdote.

Must have had better luck than I did! I bought one of the black/blue ones off Amazon last week for $109 & am in the process of returning it. Bridge was improperly installed (sides not even); just far enough off that any attempt to repair/replace it would have been futile since the new screw holes would have been too close to the existing ones. That said, it was far enough off that the high E string was off the fretboard & the low E string was setting over 1/8th inch inside the fretboard. The tone knob was loose & falling off. The bottom strap button was loose. The neck had blemishes & knots in 4 different places. The action out of the box was water tower height. I wasn't expecting much for $109, I really just wanted the body & was going to mod everything else. I'm super disappointed that I couldn't even salvage that gorgeous body off of it. I'm exchanging for another one, but I'm all but certain the replacement will be the same way since I assume they all came from the same production line. Will see. 🤬🤬🤬

Mine had no QC issues, only one slightly high fret, good intonation and it looks great and sounds very good. With the extra strings, ok bag, tuner and a fun little amp it was a great deal. Had to set the string height and will replace the tuners for sure but otherwise a nice guitar and one that would make a good modding platform as one progresses in skills. Your review is nice because you look at it as “common folk” not as supercharged guitar show offs. Makes appreciating the guitar itself much more satisfying.
