Don’t throw perfectly good paper in the trash. Use for planning, lists, grocery lists, gift lists or give it away, but DON’T trash the paper. I would pick it up if I lived on the other coast lol.

I can’t imagine using anything but a vertical. When I first decided that I needed to get serious about using a paper planner, I was struggling to commit. I bought my first Happy Planner and (mostly) loved it. It was a color block layout, and every month was a different color. It worked well for keeping track of everyone’s schedule, but then Covid hit and things changed. I no longer had a work schedule that changed day to day. I didn’t have one kid at a baby sitter and the other at school. And most important, all the appointments and after school activities stopped. My planning also stopped, but I needed to find a way to get back into a routine. Around that time I discovered Kell of a Plan and Planning With Bumble and I discovered decorative planning. I loved it! It was exactly what I was missing, but the color block layout was far from neutral. I made it work for awhile, but when COVID restrictions started to lift and the kids started virtual learning, I found myself at Michael’s buying my first vertical layout. It was the best thing that ever happened to me, but something still didn’t quite work. I found Plan With Ilysse about a year later and her daily checklist style was what I needed. Every now and again I will get more decorative, but found that one decorated box per day, with a checklist, and a blank box work perfect. Now life is back to full time busy, and I need lots of room for school and sports schedules. I use my monthly for birthdays and school schedules, and my weekly are reminders of all the little things I need to remember to do. I use my boxes for appointments or special memories from the week. I setup a June - July planner since my life revolves around the kids, and do a big majority of my spreads soon after getting my new planner.

I am NOT a vertical planner. I have always used the vertical until this year when I found papertess designs and plans by just scribble. They are both horizontal layouts and I finally found planners I love. I do however need the time line on my daily so I can time block. I’m gonna need to see you plan in your Rosie life lol. Can’t wait to see you plan in an a5 coming from a classic size. It feels so small at first.

I decorated a journal and a planner (of sorts) for my bestie this fall. She was going THROUGH IT and she needed something to help her process, so I set up the journal. She also needed some positivity and ideas for how to move forward from where she was. So her planner wasn't a monthly or weekly. Instead, I made her bucket lists, health tracker (she's super into fitness), and some other fun pages like date night trackers, movies to see, and just fun ideas. Her daughter wants in on the action now. 🥰

I only know of a vertical layout lol. I write small, very neat the dashboard may be easy idk. I used a Big dashboard briefly for work when I had an office position, but there wasn't much room for me to write from the many meetings, so I purchased extra filler paper. I don't think I could handle decorating a planner for someone else due to being overwhelmed. If I was not employed maybe but I'm trying to get in the swing 9f decorating my classic and mini 😅. I enjoyed the journey and watching your growth as you conquered the vertical! My fav spread outside of your friend’s was the Go Wild. I’ve made birthday spreads or other celebratory spreads for friends. I’ve also had planning parties for friends who are functional planners but want to be more creative in their planning.

I used a vertical layout for a year. It was OK but I prefer a horizontal layout. I like the concept of a vertical but I don't need all that space for one day and found it sad when I didnt have time to fill up the space with stickers.

I would say my top spreads from you this year outside of your BFF spread is Juneteenth, glamping, national planner day, book babe, made chic, your birthday spread I love purple, I love your monthly spreads, going to college football game, fall harvest. I would love to decorate someone planner to keep them excited about planning and enjoy it.

Mindful was my 2023 word. It led me to my 2024 mantra: I don’t do things that disturb my peace. Being mindful showed me I was saying yes to things that did not make me happy, better, proud so I quit doing them. So freeing.

My word is “simplify” because with 22 planners this year and spending about $8000 on planner supplies since sept I need to start using the stuff I have an simplify my life a little but just not with planning.
