There's been no patch to her fight since the DLC came out. You have to draw some agro and lure her far enough for it to work. It doesn't work by summoning Latenna and running away without getting Malenia's attention. The dodge AI is also the same.

I'm 2 years late but thanks for the video man. I'm doing a Summon Only challenge and i was struggling with Malenia's self heal. I tried Latenna before but i completely forgot about this machanic or rather didnt know it applied like this as well. After watching your vid i first tried her so cheers for that

She was already with the heal completely when she was in her second phase, were you using any cheat code ?

It was a bug I abused. It's fixed now but if you procced bleed or frost on the hit that sends her into phase 2, she started at 1HP. It was fixed a while ago but that's what happened. It can still occur, but I don't know the conditions for it anymore.

Still works? I know that Red Mane Ogha is also a good summon against her too, his arrows keep her on the ground. I trying lvl 1 run and these guys are gold

Yep, it still works! Ogha can abuse the "looking away" strategy as well. There's likely never going to be a fundamental change to her AI in this regard. I don't think FromSoft has ever patched boss AI in a game.

I'm guessing you mean the Commander's Standard, it buffs you and your allies damage for a little while. It's good to start any fight with but most people don't maintain the buff.

I did the same tactic to Messmer the Implaer with the Golem summon. All you need to do is heal the damn Golem. Even on NG+6 it was super easy method to beat Messmer. 😂 Sure it took time though. 9minutes or so. 😆 I posted a video of that run on my channel.

I appreciate the good effort! Another good cheese I do for him is using Night Maiden's Mist. He likes to sit at the doorway, so if you drop the Mist there he'll just eat the entire spell.

Still works, but it takes a while. My suggestion is go to Siofra River first: there you will find all the glovewort to upgrade Latenna to +5. This will boost her damage a bit. You can buy some dwelling arrows or craft some magic bolts (he's weaker to magic) and help Latenna out by also shooting through the door. But if you are not careful he might roar at you while you are stuck in your shooting animation so pick your shots carefully. Don't forget to have a golden fowl foot ready for more runes when he dies.

Can you do this with Bow and arrow + Mimic tear with hot swaping to sibirs vow constantly attracting agro of Boss and your mimic just arrows down the Boss .. especially if equiped with fire or poison arrows since mimic has infinite arrows ?

The Mimic triggers her AI to dodge I believe since it's a player model looking directly at her. They also can't replicate the same sniping tactics you can. The Mimic can go to town while you snipe though, especially if you use the Jar Cannon.

I belive the lore implies that the scarlet rot has taken her eyesight along with other appendages which kinda explains somewhat why she can't see. When you face and attack her she uses her senses to react. Not an Elden Ring lore historian so please don't crucify me if I'm wrong.

It doesn't work for me in 1.12. I always line up the view cone the same way so she is below the word 'Malenia'. She doesn't dodge once in phase 1 but as soon as phase 2 starts she dodges the shots even though they're lined up the same.

Shabriri's woe does work with every spirit ash! It's just that they didn't really explain it well in the description, leading to a TON of misunderstandings. Shabriri's woe doesn't "constantly pull" enemy aggression - It only lowers the threshold for enemies to target you, meaning that pulling aggro is a LOT easier. Bone darts or an off-hand crossbow are still required to pull aggro from range (on a melee build) but with shabriri's woe you'll use a lot less darts/bolts to do it.

It never helped with Latenna, and it doesn't improve the strategy in any significant way. Regardless if it worked, that still makes it redundant. I don't need to draw agro easily, I either have to draw it for a short time or constantly. If it's for a short time, it becomes useless once they're out of range of Latenna. If it's constantly, I'm not risking losing agro anyway. In other words, I didn't want to deal with something so intermittent so I didn't bother with it.

Yeah but I'm counting after those frames wear off. Those attacks while he's standing still make all the difference. If you watch both the grabs, you'll see I don't start counting until the volley starts doing damage. It also was just enough to get the meteor to trigger and to finish him off. He could have used another AoE attack instead of either one of those grabs and ended my run.

I'm doing a pacifist run and I used Latenna for Greyoll. It's a shame that you didn't caught on the safe spot at the left side over the rot fungus because that made really easy

That's good to know! The thing about recording is if Latenna gets the kill soon after being hit, I can't revive the boss to try another safe spot. It was very much "oh this spot works well enough, I'll go with it."
