WARNING!!! Great video, but most cable release covers, including this BackFlip are NOT Secure. All you need is a coat hanger slid between the tailgate and cover to completely defeat any security offered by the hard top. As a matter of fact, you would never know someone gained entry. They need to engineer integrated cable deflectors to help prevent this IMO.

Extang Trifecta. They are fabulous, especially the newest version with one hand unlocking mechanism.

I have a bak flip mx4. Absolute garbage. I would never buy one again. The corners constantly break off. Also the seals around it are terrible. I get water leaking at every corner . I have tried other seals, tail gate seals, and still get water. My last truck had a tri fold from GM, and although it faded almost instantly, it never leaked. The only positive thing I will say about the bak flip is it hasn’t really faded.

Would the rails on the BakFlip prevent you from using the clamp on style style ladder racks that I use for hauling my kayaks?

When you have neighborhood cats , you can't have a canvas cover . Aluminum is way more durable.

Just picked up the console organizer and lights, thanks for the recommendations. Those halogen reverse lights are a joke, really don't understand the decision by GM to stick with halogen, they look cheap against the LED tails.

Never wanted a bed cover until 2019 when I was going to start making trips with boat from NC to Fl Keys a couple times a year, I wanted a way to secure items. Figured I would remove it and just put it back on the truck when I was making the Florida trips. I installed a Bakflip on long bed dually. Traveling and staying in hotel, I had spare tires, trolling motor and fishing rods in the bed. I added velcro to the underside of cover at tailgate and used a small motion activated alarm system velcro to bed cover. It was so convenient that I left it on the truck. Also easy to flip to the cab and tow a gooseneck trailer. The only small issue I have with the cover after a few years. When flipping the cover to the cab, it has short nylon straps with plastic buckles, over time the straps have dried and shortened where they will not latch, having adjustable length straps would be handy. That being said, if I purchase another truck in the near future, probably get the Bakflip cover for it.

BakFlip may cost a little more but is well worth the price.

Both seem a terrible design… Few seconds with a cheap pry-bar between tailgate and the cable pull location and it’s completely unlocked.

Rough Country has a decent backflip cover for almost half the price.

I have been disappointed with the Gator SFX. Didn’t take long to droop and become loose. Flops like crazy when driving. I haven’t had it for long and it looks like it is 5 years old. Should have went with the hard trifold.

I wouldn't want to block my back window. I would choose the Gator out of the two.

I have the factory GMC cover which is the gator. In my opinion it is the most inconvenient bed cover on the market. The two latching units on either side of the back work horribly. The thumb screw front latches can be very difficult to remove, I have to lay on my back and crawl up into the bed to remove them if you make them snug at all. I also don't care for the tri-fold design of cover. My previous cover was a Bac Revolver X4 and it was a far superior cover but it was also a grand more than the gator. GM charges $500 for their cover, but I got it thrown in on the deal. I will replace mine with another X4.

I have the Retrax Pro MX, also a Real Truck product. I love it.

Just because it's the number one might not mean it's the best seller because on the price tag of these covers plus the price of the truck but there's no comparison when it comes to the softcover and hardcover that is worth spending the money for the hardcover for security and styling

I have the gater cover on my 1-ton, had it for 5 years now and it has held up great. I really like the no rails feature is my favorite part.

A hard roll top is the best option. Easy to get out of the way, hard to cut into, looks good, and can hold decent weight.

Ive seen a few of your videos, unless i missed one, but whats your preference from the Bak Flip from the Retrax pro? Or perhabs whats the comparison between the two for one tonsecide between?

I have the Bakflip MX4 on my 2024 F350 with the 8' bed. It is a quad flip and so far I have no complaints. RealTrucks customer service is second to none and they have great warranties. I really like the matte black finish, low profile and ease of use!

I have the soft trifold. Its been a great cover. Took feom my 2018 new and brought it to my 2022. I would like to get the other metal trifold as the fabric you feel the movement when driving higher speeds.

Is it worth paying up for the retractable metal covers with the T rails?

BakFlip is Expensive but worth it. Has a great look on my 24 Silverado

Bakflip problems are you can open it with a hanger and pull the latch. Also leans up against the window. I got the leer h650 quad folding and you can open the cover unless you drop the tailgate and unlatch the cover with your hand. However leers custom service is terrrrrrible.

Can't recommend this product or mfg. Fairly good design but very low quality product. Like others, the felt started falling off in less than a year on both the X3 and X4. Without the felt is will severely pinch your hands and fingers. Eventually the plastic pieces that contain the pull wire broke off and stopped working. Within three years the whole thing just started falling apart and is unusable. I can't bring myself to spend another $1.2K+ on the newer and improved product that I can't trust to hold up.

I’m currently running a back rack with a extang trifecta on my truck. My intent is to put a back rack on my new truck I’m leaning towards the BAK flip, just wondering if I might run into any clearance issues. Thanks

I have had both covers currently have the backflip and if you are used to towing a trailer you get use to using side mirrors so I do like the backflip the best

Your tailgate will let most of the water in. You'll have to seal it in your area, or you'll have water all the time in it. Nice topper

The Gator tri fold is a clone of the Trifecta which I’ve had on my last 4 trucks

I have a BakFlip on my ‘21 Taco, and plan on getting one for my new ‘24 Taco. Yes, kinda spendy, but worth the investment.

#2 Would be my choice, I like the latching being available on one side which saves time and effort. 😊

Have a feeling I'm going to be having a very unpleasant conversation with Real Truck once mine come in, seeing as how my ZR2 has the Bison package, which means my tire diameter is only 1inch smaller than yours and there was nothing warning about different stock packages options being an exception to their ordering system.

last tri fold soft cover I bought(Extang) was dead faded and looked like hell in a year,they sent me a new one and its heading in the same direction of the ,fading and holding water .Keep in mine my last one hung (extang) out 10 years no issues but the new ones are cheap . Extang has gone down hill since they got bought out by Real Truck. The one Gator in this video looks identical to the Extang . Now the Bakflip is really nice but literally 3 times the price of many others

I have this cover installed on my 2019 Chevrolet Silverado, HIGH COUNTRY, Crewcab, 4x4! No leaks or malfunctions to report. I’ve had a little bit of everything in my truck bed, including a full sized, spa leveled Treadmill! It’s an EXCELLENT Bang for your Bucks! 👍🏾😏

I bought open box rough country roll up with super easy install for $100 bucks and super happy with it on my 2020 TRD tacoma., works great even with my light bar/ roll bar to side under. For $100 bucks can though away after 5 yrs or sell for $50!
