Hi Leann, your red Japanese maple looks lovely planted in its new home in your garden. Thumbs up too for the plants you chose to surround it with. I appreciate the look of the river rock bordering your planting beds. Gives them a polished yet naturalistic feel. Would your husband be willing to share a few tips with us about how he does that? Best wishes, Stella

Hi. I have this type of Dracaena growing in my outdoor garden. It's two years old and the base is now becoming a thick stalk. I want to take it back to its first year look. Can I do that by cutting the stalk at the surface? Thanks
@birdhousegardenАй бұрын
Hi. I wouldn’t recommend pruning it at the base of the plant. I believe it would stress the plant, resulting in it possibly dying. Start with mildly pruning it and see how you like the results. I hope that helps. 😃🌿

Oh, I know what you mean about cutting a tree down, it just kills me! We had a clump River Birch tree in our front yard and the roots were starting to lift our sidewalk up, so my husband said we had to cut it down, I just felt so sad! One good thing about it, I had my husband leave about 4 ft. of the stumps and I put a big flower pot in the middle of the stumps and planted supertunias in it, it was beautiful!!! I had so many compliments on it. But I feel your pain!

Thank you for sharing this great video to encourage us gardeners to try our best to maintain our gardens that have to deal with summers that are very hot. (By the way your garden and hair is STILL beautiful) in the heat 😊We've learned/learning how to enjoy the humidity, deal with the heat, know what to grow, how to maintain our gardens AND deal with these pesky, horrible mosquitos. We have been in the 100s-110s here in Houston, since late May, so I feel your pain. Hope your moms recovers speedily. Enjoy the end of your summer. Waiting on autumn right now!

We live in the Sacramento area and your channel is one of my favorites. You are so calm and I enjoy your gardening style and seeing Chief always nearby. I have two Spirea in all day full sun and they are fabulous. The foliage color changes are just as spectacular as the blooms. I always cut mine back after the first flush is done and they produce a second flush of blooms. Then I cut them way back in the late winter/early spring to keep their size in check.
@kimgoodwin56532 ай бұрын
Also, I think you might end up having to move those back towards the wall. They're going to over take your stone path when they mature. 🙃
