Planting Candy Corn Spirea & Blue Suede Shoes Salvia Along the Stone Pathway Flowerbed

Hi Everyone! This area of the garden has always stumped me. While visiting a local garden nursery, I saw these Proven Winners Double Play Candy Corn Spirea. I've had experience with the salvia and variegated oregano. Those both perform well in our zone. In a few months, this area should look full. I forgot to mention that I added Espoma Bio-tone fertilizer and gypsum. Thank you so much for stopping by. :)

We live in the Sacramento area and your channel is one of my favorites. You are so calm and I enjoy your gardening style and seeing Chief always nearby. I have two Spirea in all day full sun and they are fabulous. The foliage color changes are just as spectacular as the blooms. I always cut mine back after the first flush is done and they produce a second flush of blooms. Then I cut them way back in the late winter/early spring to keep their size in check.

Also, I think you might end up having to move those back towards the wall. They're going to over take your stone path when they mature. 🙃

I have a candy corn spirea in my garden, zone 8 in Springfield Oregon, planted in the full sun and it's thriving. Mine will Rebloom if I keep it deadheaded. Your newly redone garden space looks so nice! Another pretty spirea is the double play doozie.

You can’t compare your color of candy corn in your zone to Laura’s zone in Oregon…completely different. Also her soil is different. I planted some in my zone 8b here in GA in the same amount of sun during the afternoon as you did. Just give them a little time. They’ll turn really pretty.😊

I'm a fellow 9b resident and am so glad to have found your channel! I have the same problem in my yard with an area that has shade most of the day and then the blazing summer sun in the afternoon. Asparagus Fern did very well there but the tubers spread and took over the planting bed. Happy for you getting such a great sale price on your petunias! I love how white blooms bring light into a shaded area. Do you have trouble with hardpan? Smiles, Stella

I have Big Bang Spirea, so pretty with light pink flowers that turn brown after they're done, but always with new flushes of flowers. You're garden is always beautiful. One my inspirations!🌿🦋🌷
