Hi, is it necessary to use any damp proofing membrane in the foundation of this building technique?
@enobricks99694 ай бұрын
It is not necessary to use damp proofing membrane, however when building on partially saturated or water logged land we use a layer of dam proofing course. Generally speaking we recommend damp proofing if you’re not sure of the composition of the land and especially if you’re building in Ghana. Water proofing (by using a brick sealant on the superstructure) is very much recommended.

@enobricks9969 Thank you for your response. Noted. I really love this building technique & will be considering using these type of bricks when I start my build in Ghana. 😊

Please note that this was an experiment to see (under the same conditions) which fared better ISSBs or burnt bricks. The purpose was not to extend the experiment for weeks (the amount of time for mortar to fully cure) especially in the current rainy season. Both pillars had 1 day (of shooting) to “dry”. In future ISSBS vs burnt bricks videos we can extend to include a longer comparison (a week or so to dry) and then use a greater impact force to test the strength.

The housing situation is really bad. The real estate market in Ghana targets diasporans. The average Ghanaian can’t afford 1000gh a month. The rent advance of 2 years is too steep. On the landlords side most Ghanaians are truthful. You will give your house out for 6 months rent advance but the balance collection is tough. Some tenants will end up screw you over. They will even demand three months rent free before they pack out.

Hi Eno Bricks, Please could give me the contact details for Adwukwa bricks and tiles if you don't mind? Very instructive video. Cheers
My concerns about interlocking bricks are that ants breed between the stones. This can happen less easily with mortar and plaster. How do you handle this problem?
@enobricks9969 Жыл бұрын
We have not experienced issues with ants, as long as the bricks are of equal size and stacked on an even service it shouldn’t be a problem. However the way in which this risk is mitigated is by the process of brick pointing where mortar can be used to act as a barrier and then using a brick sealant which will provide an additional form of protection.
