Stumbled across this while researching ALS, as a friend was recently diagnosed with this horrible affliction. Thank God for Dandy's life and testimony! May God bless his family!

Don't do this unless your husband weighs 10kg! My husband has ALS and a few days ago I tried to lift his upper body to adjust him in bed. Now I am suffering from a terrible pain in my neck, back, chest and even throath.

This is not allowed in the UK, this would be a safe guarding issue.

Yeah, that's what I thought too ! Very gently!! I'm a beginniner in this wonderful job. I'm very small and light, also very careful but you need to find the right balance between being careful and being effective. As simple as it may sound. When you are a mother, some of the things just work easier for us... that's what it feels like for me.

Dandy, I am looking forward to seeing you in Heaven. Things are moving along faster, but I still have a couple more years, but only God knows. It is a catch-22 losing many friends but overjoyed that many are in Heaven like you. You missed one crazy year. Thanks for being a friend when I first got diagnosed.

That is very dangerous and outdated technic. If you do not want to injury yourself and /or your client, please do not use it! You have got only one back, if that goes wrong you out of work. For all transfers use adequate equipment. Your health is not worth money the equipment cost.

*Performs well as a shower chair to transfer from bed to shower area.◔◔>**share4.photo/BathWheelchair?11k** Chair back handle support does not fit the chair frame. It was very loose and wiggly! I purchased 4 nylon spacers at a local hardware store and installed them between the chair frame and the seat back support. This allowed the two aluminum tubes to be tight and secure.*

Great video and cute caregiver! I am going to ask my temporary caregiver to try this for me. We do similar but pulling up the sides is usually tricky around “the man parts”. How do you handle that scenario?

JS mount is of the Height Adjustable Driving Platform for Micro Extremity Control type. This product comes from Adaptive Switch Labs not Permobil. I installed the mount, the bracket, and the micro extremity device on an Invacare chair model TDX SP-MCG a few weeks ago. Sweet. 5 grand MSRP for parts only. Plan on another grand for install. Through a reputable mobility dealer I think I remember billing just over 3000 for parts and labor. Colorado's Medicade system picked it up because of the loss of motor skills experienced by the operator, it was labeled as medically necessary. Sweet, but it’s kinda fragile. Thanks for the demo. However, I see you were left sitting in a awful position, basically on the edge of your seat. When I use my hoyer (daily) my biggest goal is to make sure I land back into my seat well. Please tell me that you are positioned into your chair in a better position. I can not push myself back or get lifted under my arms. Is that how you get positioned properly. Thanks for sharing that. I do have blog called walkingwayoverrated at blogspot :o)

It is quicker to transfer this way. We bought the shower chair used from an acquaintance. You can find them on line new, but they are very pricey. It is very comfortable though and worth the money if you can swing it. You might try 1-800 Wheelchair to shop.
