I'm having an issue WITH Tippecanoe where my data is dropping when I zoom out. It's borders for ALL countries. Tippecanoe processes it as minzoom 8 when I specify minzoom 1 in commands. But when I process a few countries at a time it honours the minzoom. Any ideas why?

Personally, I see the Wheel of Life as a representation of different stages we go through within a single lifetime rather than across multiple reincarnations. The six realms can be seen as different states of mind or experiences we encounter depending on our actions, emotions, and circumstances. Instead of interpreting them as separate realms of existence, I believe they symbolize the shifting phases of our own mental and emotional states throughout life.

Amazing video. So sad to hear how retail WoW has gone down the drain. On the question of where they got inspiration: is it a stretch to say Ocarina of Time?

I also love how kingdom and chiefdoms borders simply doesn't exist. Very similar to XVII maps that just dind't knew exactly where their country ended. A lot of verosimilitud.

i miss the hype of finding a group without dungeon finder, the excitement of waiting for raids to open, the adrenaline during first day of tbc and wotlk and the tiresome tabbing out and checking something on thottbot :D

The maps showing up as u explore is also similar to fog of war in rts games. Where u have to explore through darkness to draw out the map. Used to great effect in all Blizzard rts games.

We just all need to remember. Blizz isn't solely at fault. The players helped pave the path that led to stuff like these getting lost or changed. We look back now and see nostalgia but forget, at that time, we still had complaints with the game. And some of those led here. Maybe not so the maps specifically, but more so all the tangentially related things everyone is bringing up in the comments. The OG maps were awesome, and if the new maps had the same art style but kept the map markers I'd be fine with that. After all, the map markers CAN be turned off.

Man… this is painful to watch. I played WoW aged 17 back in Vanilla/TBC. Worked a fun minimum wage job at a movie theatre, started driving and getting laid lol. Huge movies were coming out around that time like Harry Potter & Twilight, cinema was at its peak as there were no streaming services yet. My point is that there was a buzz to the world. Ofcourse WoW was an absolutely blissful adventure, the music and the exploration. It was just so perfect. I didn’t even realise they would be some of the best days in my life.

The modern retail map is terrible. You can't find anything easily. They need to address the issues and make it easier to filter.

The biggest problem with WoW is the amount of time you spend playing it! You could waste a lot of your time playing this worthless game, and accomplish nothing with your life! I know, I'm one of those people who had to quit! This kind of game has to be casual for society's sake! Otherwise, throw these worthless gamers in either a prison cell or a battlefield! They would serve society better that way! The resources and real estate they take up would be better off in another person's possession who does something for the community! 🪖☣️🤕☠️✝️

Ever since I was a child, I always had a huge problem with Tolkien's map of Middle Earth. Geologically, the mountains bordering Mordor don't work and never did. The rest of the map's ok but an F for Mordor.

I’ll never forget when my cousins got me hooked on WoW towards the beginning of Wrath, and when they zoomed out to the world map showing Outlands next to Azeroth it blew my little kid mind that there was an entirely different world to explore. Great video!

Jayzus… Tolkien fans willingly accept the concept of owls that wear chain mail but quickly rebuke a map that has mountains at a right angle, because “that’s just physically not possible”…. Well done, geeks.

There's an aspect to exploration like these that's often overlooked and that's how player will also improve their navigational skills as they play. This is an aspect of player-game I see very few people appreciate, how not only your character gets stronger as you go through the level/gear treadmill but you as a player also improve your skills over time giving you a sort of quadratic curve to your performance. Mythic raiders perform better than normal raiders because they have better gear but also they also play a lot better, similarly a higher level player will be able to orient themselves better than a low level player who will easily get lost and wander off. This was huge in the landscape of classic WoW with the 1 hour CD on Hearthstones limiting you options for "OK I'm really far from where I want to be", lack of fast and flying mounts made terrain a lot more important and you were also at risk of getting dismounted. In a way being a good navigator would also mean getting from A to B faster and safer in a short trip, where lower level and less knowledgeable players would need to run gauntlets to get to their destination.
