hey mate, how deep is the water? also is the sand hard to walk in? I'm going there soon and just checkin if its safe!
@josh_SA-r2gАй бұрын
can you eat fish from there?
@fletchersfishingАй бұрын
Absolutely not, I would strongly recommend that you do not eat from manly lagoon. There’s signs everywhere and I’m pretty sure it’s regarded as one of the most heavily polluted systems in Sydney, if not Australia. There’s run off from 3 golf courses, couple of ovals and some from industrial brookvale
@brettm.s.11692 ай бұрын
Queenscliff lagoon is the states 2nd most polluted waterway, first is Curl Curl lagoon. Both great wins for the Northern Beaches community !!!
@fletchersfishingАй бұрын
100% mate. Sometimes what we consider the most dangerous/polluted environments can often act like a haven for wildlife. Look at Chernobyl, it’s now acting as a sanctuary for wildlife. Just goes to show how detrimental we as humans are to our natural environment
@marknissen85452 ай бұрын
Nice vid. Have you fished there again recently?
@fletchersfishingАй бұрын
Nah I haven’t been there in ages, I just recently moved out of the northern beaches closer towards the hawskbury, plenty more wild populations of bass out here

I’m still pretty average at walking the dog. I can skip cast, fly fish, pitch, roll etc. But this technique is just stupid nothing I am crap at. Any tips? Cheers
@fletchersfishingАй бұрын
I’m not sure if I can offer any tips other than what some other instructional yt videos can provide. I think it must just take some practise. However I’ve noticed walking the dog action can be harder or easier depending on the lure. The more bent (banana shaped) the lure is the easier it tends to walk the dog. Lures like the sugapenn are harder to walk the dog on, but that’s part of the design, because you have the option of having a more subtle action vs a very wide sway. A more subtle action is better when imitating shrimp/prawns, or working in a heavily fished area
@brettm.s.11692 ай бұрын
I worry that you’re standing in chest deep murky water with a dead bleeding fish in your pocket and that waterway is connected to the sea.
@fletchersfishingАй бұрын
Yeah probably not the smartest idea I’ve had and definitely do not want to lead by example. I know for a fact that bull sharks are in that area so you’re definitely right
@mudgut693 ай бұрын
Daiwa Infeet Kodachi slay in that place. If you fish plastics, and that is your best option in winter, use a black two inch grub, get a gold Colorado blade and turn it into a jig spin.
@fletchersfishingАй бұрын
Bet, sounds like a perfect winter set up. I’ve found in winter you gotta really play it slow and patiently, but in summer you can pretty much do whatever you want. My go to is always surface action of any kind

What the kayak you use and where can I buy one please ?
@fletchersfishingАй бұрын
I’m pretty sure in that video I had a kayaks2fish nextgen 11 at the time. However I really wouldn’t recommend it because I had a fair few problems with it. Ideally hobie kayak are the best but they’re pretty bloody pricey. I’d recommend the kayaks2fish nextgen 10.5, pedal king 12, the nextgen 10 mkii, or the nextgen 10 depending on ya budget
@brettm.s.11693 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t fish in Narrabeen Lakes because of the chemical buildup. I saw a guy pull a female Mudcrab out of Manly Lagoon and he planned to eat it. I wouldn’t touch it.
@fletchersfishingАй бұрын
Up to you, you’re right about the chemical buildup, and there’s a term for that called bioaccumulation. It’s up to you, there are no warnings about eating fish from narrabeen, however there are signs at manly lagoon everywhere. I’ve never had any problems eating fish out of there, but who knows I’m still young and the effects could occur much later down the track
@DeviousSigma-bk4cu4 ай бұрын
Manly lagoon is legit a open sewer all the shit from Brookvale industrial estate gets dumped in it
@fletchersfishingАй бұрын
Couldn’t agree more. It’s disgusting and the council should really do more to try and restore it. Although some run off from Brookvale drains into manly lagoon, most of Brookvales industrial run off actually drains into curl curl lagoon, hense why curl curl lagoon is considered more polluted than manly lagoon.

what rig you use
@fletchersfishingАй бұрын
Honestly not the best rig but it worked just fine, it was literally just 3m of leader connected via a fg knot. I would recommend using a better rig like a typical live bait rig with a down rigger, but if you don’t have one a poor man’s down rigger should work just fine too
@ChrisFaustmann7 ай бұрын

Unfortunately I’ve left yt behind for now. I’ve moved out of the northern beaches and am focusing my time and effort into my uni education and my career. Potentially in the future if I have more time I’ll try get back into it. Filming is easy, editing 6-10 hours of footage can be pretty bloody hard

Hi bro, what is the type of your Kayak? Is it easy to transport on a sedan car?
@fletchersfishing Жыл бұрын
Hey mate. In that video I had a kayaks2fish nextgen 11. However I had a lot of problems with that model kayak so I’d would really only recommend the pedal king 12 or the nextgen 10 or next-gen 10 MK2. The pedal king 12 was the hardest to put onto a sedan style car and I needed an kayak loading assistance device but the nextgen 10 is piss easy

Thanks mate. I have another question. I am just a beginner. Can i move backward with mirage drive? Do you recommend mirage drive or other types?
@fletchersfishing Жыл бұрын
Yeah no worries at all mate. Only very few of the ACTUAL hobie kayaks actually have the reverse drive and that’s why I gotta pay a premium for those suckers. None of the kayaks 2 fish pedal kayaks have reverse drive and the hobie compass is the cheapest model that has reverse

Hi! I’m a tourist in manly Vale and I have a question. I really love to fish but I don’t not if it is necessary a permissions for fishing in this place. Thanks
@fletchersfishing Жыл бұрын
Good question mate. Just looked it up, if you’re over 18 you’ll need to get a fishing license. They’re pretty cheap and I’m pretty sure you can get them for as little as one day. Once you have that you should be able to fish any fishing permitted zones. Before I fish any new grounds that’s I’m unfamiliar with I always look for marine sanctuary zones to make sure I’m doing the right thing. In manly the only marine reserve is cabbage tree bay/Shelly beach. I hope this helps.

Hey man where is this ledge? Nice catches!!
@fletchersfishing Жыл бұрын
Hey mate. I’d rather not say exactly where this ledge is. It’s on the northern beaches and it’s a pretty dangerous location to fish and to trek to. Additionally it’s one of the few ledges not many people know about and would like to try minimise pollution and overfishing. Hope you can understand, however I find that curl curl and freshwater have given me similar results
