The picture is of an Anglican Choirboy in liturgical vestments. The Vienna Boys Choir has worn Sailor Suits since 1924 and are not related to a religious institution.

Saw the Vienna Choir Boys in New York at Radio City Music Hall in 1951 or 52 when i was 10. It was magical and I've never forgotten the experience. That was 73 years ago.

Whatever your opinion is regarding "another" Ombra Mai Fu : this one by boysoprano Hans Buchhierl (1961) - sang in about 1974 (correct?) - It is totally different from many others and that is already a reason to listen to the very end! Many are predictable and often boring, but Hans kept me listening till the very end. There were many positive surprises and after hearing maybe 100-150 different ones over the years, I can certainly consider his version as positive exceptional . I like the slow tempo and the "acrobatique" of the boysoprano's voice. Fifty years later (2024) I finally discovered this - thanks to KZbin in combination with BoysopranoLover. Compliments from the Netherlands.
