I remember performing this as a young boy during the introduction of Gotham's Renewal program. Most of my peers from back then are either dropheads or no longer with us. Listening to this song today is bittersweet.

I am stil in utter and the most profound feeling that , for once in my life…no mere words could possibly do justice to describe this blessed feeling. I have been most fortunate in life, to have been a former citizen of the World. Seen the most breathtaking, historic and marvelous cities, churches..attended legendary events..etc. I was too young, truthfully, to “remember” Vienna. I was born in Washington , D.C. to the most beautiful, quietly elegant couple I’ve ever known. My Parents…After arriving form Paris, we atender mass The National Cathedral, D.C….Another young soloist such as this treasure sang my now, favorite song. Tears started falling quietly from my too young eyes because..well, that kind of grace and beauty …only God can do it! 😎…THIS BOY ..:.lol.,;i must stop writing for I fear i may endure a mild coronary event! ❤️

The main voice is David Cordier (countertenor, adult) recorded 11 & 12 dec. 1995 in Köln (Cologne), dirig. Helmut Froschauer. No idea who the soprano is and if there's really one. Orchestra is WDR Rundfunkorchester Köln.

As an adult countertenor I can mimic this precisely, so my belief is that David Cordier was in fact The Soloist on this, but singing it in 1995 as an adult countertenor. The voice does seem to have richer tones to it than a young child could produce. Vienna Boys Choir backed him up, somebody uploaded the album Elsewhere on KZbin I have another comment here that has the link.
@riccardocervelli21445 жыл бұрын
On the basis of some searches I’ve done, I am pretty sure BlueStef17 is correct. The singer is Cordier with Vienna Boys’ Choir in Cologne. The tune is in an album I found on Amazon Music. Title: 50 Must-have Boys’ Choir Christmas Classics

There's something ghostly about a boy who has certainly long since died who sings like an angel. It makes me wonder about how strange it is that we all are alive here on Earth as humans and that we all die and that that seems so impermanent but maybe there's more? I guess it makes me feel melancholic.

This reminds me of my Grandmother so much. She was from Poland but could still speak German and Latin as well as Polish !!! . I remember when I saw her last in 1984 and this song would play in Mass… she would smile and nudge me as my name is Marie but Babcia swore it was wrongly written down by the hospital ! Each time I hear this song I’m transported back to 1984 at St Johns Catholic Church in Dearborn Michigan. Music has a way of transporting us thru time and space. In honor of my Babcia, I go by the name Maria instead of Marie. Miss you dearly Stella Cygan. (Miss your pierogis so much lol) Best Grandma ever !!!
