It just dumps the rom and then plays it in an emulator. So long as the cart reads properly in a GBA, then it should work fine here.

Regarding the Clock - The Cart stores the date and time on the cartridge on part of the circuit the GB OP doesnt read. So when you put it into the Anologue, the console reads the correct time or i beleive so. This is actually benefical for setting times for Evolutions ( Day / Night ) or activating Day / Night stuff in game.

@TheCartCollector6 күн бұрын
The “correct” value is whatever takes to get it working. From the factory it’s set in the neighborhood of 550. I had to set mine in this video to around 180 I think? And I just recapped this very cube and had to set to 450 to get it working.

From what I've read/watched there was particularly bad input lag with this controller on release (specifically in DInput mode, I believe) and they improved it in a firmware update later. So make sure to update it when you get one in case it still has old firmware from the factory.

On my model (very late model DOL-101) the white optical ribbon cable is secured to the board with adhesive, not a black frame that you can slide out before removing. I haven't seen anybody else have this problem. How do I go about unplugging the ribbon without damaging it?
@paulb543215 күн бұрын
So a AC block does not work with charger? What did you plug white cable into?
@TheCartCollector15 күн бұрын
It does work with a normal wall brick. It just can’t use a Type-C to Type-C cable. The white cable was a Type-C to Type-A cable plugged into the same wall brick that I used to try the first cable. However I did not try it with a cable that has a type-c plug on one end and normal wall plug on the other (like a Nintendo switch charger). Though I don’t see why that wouldn’t work either.

I'll be getting this for PlayStation 1 and 2, but I'm so confused about what to buy a ps4 or ps5 controller. you try them both, which is Most suitable
@TheCartCollector15 күн бұрын
Neither has pressure sensitive face buttons, so there isn’t an option that’s “most suitable”. It all comes down to personal preference. I personally prefer the feel of the DualShock 4 in my hand more than the DualSense, which is why I predominantly use it when I play games on my computer. However if you currently have / plan on getting a PS5, then it would probably make sense to go ahead and get a dualsense so you’d have an extra controller for that console. If you don’t plan to own a ps5, then it entirely comes down to which controller you would prefer to own and play with.

It's great if you already have a GC controller. I've read rumors about Nintendo releasing a new GC controller for when they add it to the Switch Online so I think I'll wait for that and then get the 8bitdo wireless receiver to use on my Wii.

If that’s what you want to do then by all means do it. I’m skeptical that they are ever going to just release GC games on NSO like they did the other systems. The games seem like they’d be too big to bundle into a single app like they did with the older consoles.

I doubt it. On PC, this would only act as a Bluetooth receiver. So if the game doesn’t support the controller, then it wouldn’t work, regardless of the adapter you use.

Don't order those "Trident" all-in-one cables for a setup like this - they're intended for a Model 1 Genesis (the long one with the headphone jack) and those add-ons. The Model 2 Genesis seen here uses the exact opposite type of power (center positive, while Model 1 is center negative), so the combo cable would fry your console!
@bipedalspecies2086Ай бұрын
Two questions; how is the audio since the original Mega CD needed an audio patch cable and does the powerbrick do the different voltages for the different consoles? I just got my first Mega CD and it's a 2 and so is the console, I'm not sure if that was handled internally by then or if I should split the audio off the 9 pin din and mix it like with the original model. I still have my original Mega drive/Genesis and someday it will get a Mega CD as well, I really would like that original Mega CD, I drooled over it at the time.

i think most obviously i used to play a lot more platform games (yoshi's island, crash bandicoot, donkey kong country). even if they were brutal at my age/eye-hand coordination level, i'd just bang my head against them until i got my twitch reflexes down. these days I don't really have patience for platformers at all. CRPGs, with the occasional dip into RTS/strategy/sim, is where i'm at.

Back in the day for me it was all action. Contra. Castlevania. R-Type. Etc. while I still love these games, strategy is really what I grew into as I got older. Turn based tactics games never appealed to me until I hit my 40s (I’m playing Tactics Ogre for the first time). Once I gave them a chance and ‘got’ them, it completely changed my perspective. Now they’re among my favourites.
@doughboy55555Ай бұрын
This kind of sound like a generational and age conversation as well, as someone who grew up with NES games were more rough around the edges and it taught us more patience and forethought and random precise actions while playing games. You hear it a lot with older gamers where they think games are getting easier and easier, and to some extent that is true, but it’s also because game control has progressively gotten better over the years and those who learned on older games have already developed skills that makes it easier to adapt to newer games. And the adverse is also true, as newer games require more twitch reactions, older gamers tend to rely more on forethought and memorization rather than reaction.

I always say unless it's like an anxiety thing, the timer in Majora's Mask is functionally nonexistent. Like in terms of the narrative and such it's fantastic, but in terms of "limiting" your ability to do stuff, it gives you so many "checkpoints" like you can complete each temple in pieces over the course of three or four cycles if you really need to.
@TheCartCollectorАй бұрын
You definitely can. Just the idea of a timer stressed me out as a youngster. Now it gives me a means to optimize my gameplay. “How much can I get done in a single cycle?”

Not my situation, I grew up with fighters & RPGs as a kid, and I still like fighters and RPGs. Just played both Baldur's Gate 1 and BG3 back to back, all good... and Retroarch to replay old games and stuff I missed because it was only in arcades when I feel bad. Also still playing Tomb Raider. Literally same old ones with remasters now. There's a reason they're re-releasing stuff all the time, and series get to numbers so high publishers get embarrassed and we end up with five Lara Croft continuities and THREE games that are called Mortal Kombat 1... People kind of keep wanting more of the same, so you get re-release of a remastered version of a remake.

I've not changed much at all. The things I seek are story, lore, progression and verisimilitude. I utterly despise combat that is so challenging that you need to learn an encounter to beat it. And PVP. It's the worst thing in gaming because it brings out the nasty little trolls and meta freaks.

hmm. Good question. I have a lot of nostalgia for Crash Bandicoot, and some levels of Warped and Cortex Strikes Back in particular. I also used to enjoy Zoo Tycoon and Roller Coaster Tycoon, but just the sandbox element (and the dolphin training in Zoo Tycoon 2 Marine Mania). I wasn't much into the tycoon element of it. In real life I still don't overly care about money nor do I care for seeing numbers go up on a screen for the sake of it, it's so boring. But maybe the approaching the challengeds from a strategic perspective would be fun now. Planet Zoo and Planet Coaster don't really hit the same since the managiing part has way more tedious steps from what I've seen. I have generally gotten more into games though. Many things, but decidedly not the overtly competitive or the action games (too overstimulating with all the flashes and numbers on screen, which is decidely the opposite of fun to me. It even trigger migraines). But a farm-life sim, rhythm game, puzzle game, or a metroidvania that fits my style all work. I'm getting pickier by the month though. I won't ever be able to play everything and I don't want to give up my other hobbies either.

2:33 - "I realized I was kind of a stupid kid" Anyone who doesn't realize they were a stupid kid at one point is stupid as an adult. As for games I appreciate differently now, flight sims in general were something I had no patience for as a kid; similarly, when I first tried RTS games my thought was "a worker costs just as much as a soldier, so it's better to just buy another soldier!"- obviously, that made most missions obscenely difficult past the earliest points of the game. And on another note, I've definitely turned the difficulty up as I've matured- when I was a kid, I used to always play on the easiest difficulty offered; nowadays the answer is much too complicated to give a simple answer, but the short version is "usually a just above normal difficulty", which depending on the game is often hard mode. Being in my mid-30s now, I've actually been worried for a while about my reactions slowing and not being able to play some of my favorite games- titles like Mega Man Zero, Cave Story, and Cross Code are certainly not a walk in the park... I'm glad to see that I can still handle these kinds of games, but I know the day is coming where I'll be sticking primarily to turn-based games, and that does have me kind of terrified; not that I don't enjoy turn based games- I very much enjoy them- but there are so many great action games out there that I want to be able to enjoy as well.

I'm glad people are starting to really give Metroid the appreciation it deserves. The linking with Fusion on the GBA gives you access to the Fusion Suit as a cosmetic in Prime. It looks really cool in action! As for Metroid 1, I think it's a great game with a bad reputation because people just aren't used to NES games and don't have to patience to deal with the learning curve. I find myself agreeing a lot with this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/npPMeoOkrb5jl80 I will say that a lot of the quality-of-life improvements by the emulation scene make it a lot easier to get into for modern players (especially beam-stacking and starting with fully charged Energy Tanks) but even then I think the difficulty is overstated and the vanilla game is perfectly enjoyable in 2024.
