Two question: 1. If my sustain pedal is built in with my keyboard I still follow the same process? 2. Is there a way to make a pedal that can start and stop the metronome?
@CatherallAudio
@CatherallAudio 8 күн бұрын
1. It should still work, just double check if the pedal sending MIDI CC 64 that’s the message for sustaining 2. Yes, it is listed under the actions when mapping the pedal.

I need an audio mixer for a musical at my school to use for exactly what you were saying about metronome in one ear, and instrument sounds for the audience. Do you know of any other mixers that have the 1-2, 3-4 option that are a little more budget friendly?

The Focusrite 4i4 is a great option. It’s $180 brand new off of sweetwater. You could also look at the Behringer U-phoria UMC404HD which is $109 brand new off of sweetwater.

The biggest gripe I have had with musescore as a whole is importing scores or parts from a sibelius exported xml (compressed or uncompressed), and even sending a musescore file to someone else and them importing parts, bass drum parts sometimes just get put on one line... I really like MDL, especially for writing tuplets and the accessibility, but the importing is brutal. I honestly think its a thing sibelius bakes in somewhere to make life harder for non-sibelius users. Different software architectures are going to have issues, but how the XML format is supposed to be the universal language between programs but it just doesnt translate correctly sucks.

Great review dude!! #1 fail on their end, dirty drumline playback makes it 100% non-usable. No one needs their kids to hear a dirty battery on the show mp3. I’ll take old VDL’s sound quality trade off for playing perfectly in time - You can change and alter EQ and all that, but you can’t fix bad sample editing. I heard this in their first demo they posted too, and hearing it’s just baked in, rough. They’d have to re-edit the entire sample collection and also remove the round robin as an option. If it can’t play basic street beat stuff clean, it’s going to be a complete disaster for anything even remotely challenging or dense. Maybe there’s plans for that and they just launched it early, but this is a long way from being a daily workhorse.
@CatherallAudio

I definitely agree, it’s got some work to go before it could justify any mainstream usage. I’m interested in checking out the VDL offering on MuseScore!

At the very least, you can set the snare and quad playback to be "solo" using the sound flags. It won't sound as thick and full as a whole battery playing, but at least playback for them won't be dirty. The bass unisons, however... Yikes. Nothing you can do there.

No you do not have stem splitter in logic pro 11 if your mac has intel chips!!!!!!!!!! Stem splitter is greyed out and disabled so you will need another option than Logic Pro 11 or include buying a new Mac with apple chips then you will have Stem Splitter for the additional $200 far from free. I am here for the options because I cannot buy a new Mac just to use stem splitter (Yes I do have logic pro 11 and Intel chips on my iMac, stem splitter is disabled)

very cool interview...Drum corps since 2004 has been trying to figure out how to be top notch and forward moving with audio and amplification. It's been a journey for sure over the last 20 years. Not all corps are there, but after seeing Bloo 4 times this year, I'd say the future of DCI is in good hands, and this is the corps that's leading the way in sound design. And can I just say I loved this year and all the cool sonic moments. I really appreciate the straightforward attention to music and sound vs. the over-the-topness (although good) furniture/storyline/narration. I love when corps leave it up to the audience for interpretation! Beautiful stuff!

The most annoying thing is people wanting to double down on old ways and let the activity die due to some random high horse. If you are a fan of Drum Corps you'd know that DCI has been about change and evolution since 1972.

As a brass player and longtime DCI fan (2010 ageout) this was a fascinating listen. I have a lot of respect for the knowledge and expertise that goes into audio engineering. What I find frustrating, especially when I go to a live show, is how easily the audio mix can make or break musical moments. When a ballad soloist's beautiful tone is way too hot in the mix during a quiet moment, or the synth bass vibrates my chest and dominates the sound when the brass are already playing at full volume, it pulls me out of those moments that I come to drum corps for. And it's extra frustrating knowing that it is out of the performers' control. And I often wonder if the audio team or corps staff don't even hear some of those balance issues, or they DO hear it and it's actually the sound they want? Maybe that is the "loudness war" that they're referring to.

I have a problem I can't figure out. I'm trying to make the sampler use only ONE of the zones from the different zones assigned to the same key on a Latin Percussion kit. I've tried everything I could to make it play only one of the zones but it keeps cycling through the different zones automatically and I can't figure out how to stop/modify this. It's the Stomps in the kit and I only like Stomp Copy 7 but every time I hit the key, it cycles to the different zones of the audio file. How can I modify this to only play Stomp Copy 7 zone? EDIT: Knowing this information will also help me know how to setup up the automatic cycling in case I also want to create a sampler instrument where one key triggers several different zones of an audio file.

they changed the number, but in reality, there is nothing really new, apart from a distorter and other useless plugins, it's been years, that we hope for a search for plugins, a decent browser manager, more responsive audio editing, it seems that Apple is only investing in iPad devices and not in your computers.
