Hi, I’m about to start marching band next coming school year. If you haven’t done marching band that’s fine but if you have do you have any tips? I play trumpet btw

My nephew plays the cornet and loves it. He is 11 and it's the perfect size for him.

My trumpet made a click sound and the valves are in the correct slot, however. it still isn't making sound at all. What do I do?

It's been about 12 years since I put the horn down, with 50 years of playing, I'm ready to get going. Great tips on getting restarted. Thank you!

Love your story about your first live listens, and I think that book is one of the best (my teacher was married to Arban, so I came to VC later in life). Sandoval often says thexsiund is not in the trumpet, it is in your head. Maybe your heart, but that splits anatomical hairs. The point is so important, thank you for a fresh perspective.

Thank you, Robert. It's a challenge to be vulnerable but happy to share.

Thank you for this interview and the optimism it’s given my son and I. He is only 13 and trumpet has been his joy, he fell and knocked out top three front teeth. He wants to play so badly and get back to it.Thank you for this

@@katieramsey5028 happy to share this, especially if it helps someone. I know it can be discouraging to have an injury that prevents you from doing the thing that you love. Tell your son that I said he can do it and we’ll be here to guide him along the way.

Wow, how can I explain it? This is the most organic , down to earth advice I have ever heard from a teacher. He does understand that life happens to everyone, and most of the time, we students get discouraged because of it. I am no longer going to force myself to sound like Miles Davis. Thank you for the inspiration, sir. ❤🎶🎺🙏🏻

It's said that more heads are better than one. Together we can cover more ground and discover much more. I've listened to versions of tunes that I liked better than others. I imitated the phrasing, tempo, etc. Yet, I never obsessed with playing it exactly like another artist.

My cousin used to play the trumpet, we were around 10 years old, so I took it and not only I managed to make a sound but I got C major in 2 minutes. May be it was cause I already played the piano for 5 years then and I understood how this sound is made somehow... :). Now 30 years later I wanna buy a trumpet and drive my neighbors crazy :D

For using it with an Apple adapter (as mentioned @ 4:20) to video record with a smart phone, how does that work? Does it just use the better zoom mics and send that signal to the phone via usb while making a video or are they two distinct recordings that need to be synchronized later? Thanks
