Nice they have solo cabins with less floor space, smaller lounge, tighter storage and no drawer space. What's not so nice is that they charge solo travellers DOUBLE for the priveledge of taking a smaller room. It's ridiculous. and infuriating. It's 11k AUD for solo cabin on a cruise I was looking at for three travellers... ATM for two travellers in a veranda room its $5608 pp twin share (without a drink package). If we cram me into a SINGLE sofa bed in that room, the three of us will each pay $6018 to share that room between 3. OR I can Pay 11k on my own to have a smaller solo room. So if I go - everyone pays more - and everyone has less space!! If I stay home, the other two save hundreds and they won't be crammed in. One can have the sofa bed and one can have the actual bed. Guess I can just take a hike...

New York is actually my favorite MGM as far as affordability, food options, connection to other casinos, casino, etc. I've stayed at Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur and Grand. Loved Bellagio and Mandalay Bay which I consider more high end. New York is my fun casino.

Sadly……nope! Aurea has no dedicated restaurant…….you only get “anytime” dining, which is only offered to Aurea guests……..

After several cruises Celebrity's itineraries are becoming stale, and I've been looking at HAL cruises. Would you ever consider switching at some point?

I have recently started sailing MSC, and agree the Caribbean itineraries could use some shuffling for sure. For me I enjoy the ships and relaxing and the whole cruise experience. Next year I am going to some Mediterranean cruises, and look at some other places to visit other than the usual Caribbean ports of call. Lots of options for cruising in the world!

Thanks for reviewing a solo cabin! I like Celebrity but wasn't sure about the Solo offerings. I"m not finding much on their website. Did you book through an agent?

I always book directly through Celebrity. Only the Edge class ships have these solo cabins solo cabins. I also did a solo cabin review on the Beyond as well, which had a couple of extras the edge did not have (drawers). All the solo cabins are on deck six, and I love them! Watch the prices though……they are sometimes not the best deals. I have seen solo cabins priced more than regular cabins……why Idont know………

Ran into exactly this myself on Celebrity. All kinds of promotions for the rooms - 75% of the 2nd passenger! $600 off per room! My single rate? Over double the advertised price, no sale, no nothing. What a way to discourage a customer. I knew I would be paying more, with the sale I would happily pay the 2nd person's rate. But $6700 for a room advertised at $2900 per person double occupancy? With 75% off the 2nd person's fare? They clearly don't want my business.

Sadly, no they do not have any servers in the buffet, unlike Celebrity who do have servers in the buffet! Thanks for the comment……….

If you are with a companion, why do we not see his food as well, at least? Even if your friend doesn't want to be on camera, not showing additional options is a missed opportunity to showcase the dining experience. Im glad you enjoyed it. @@kimtodd9712thanks for the comment. The lack of drawer space is one of the setbacks in the solo cabins, but there is adequate shelf space if you maximize the available space. Enjoy!

We're looking forward to our Aurea experience this January. We ended up with a deluxe balcony cabin on the 11th floor. Last June, we enjoyed our first ocean-going cruise on board the Holland America MS Volendam from Boston to Montreal. It was very relaxing, and room service was free (food and delivery, but a limited menu). The food, no matter where you went, was great to incredible. In July 2022, we took a 5 night 70-passenger riverboat replica cruise down the Ottawa River from Ottawa and up the St.Lawrence River to Kingston Ontario. Great fun and definitely an experience.

The pizza & hola taco restaurant is very good! but the buffet food is not good, an Italian ship but Asians are making the food and sorry but they cannot possibly master all cultures of food! It’s honestly just bad! I would travel on MSC again because the balconies are cheap but I had to order room service pizza and it was absolutely delicious! the ice cream at the parlor was different flavors is also worth the money

I subscribed to your channel because of this video. You did an excellent job!! This video was very detailed and you explained every single station. Everyone complains about the layout of the buffet. I hope MSC works on that. I am sailing on the Meraviglia in January and I am anxious to see if MSC has listened to the concerns of the cruisers. Thanks for sharing...excellent video!!! 🤗

@TheBussman-OnTheRoad ok I have the answer for u why there is a de k 13 but no 17. Why MSC ships have Deck 13, but not a Deck 17, because the cruise line's founder is Italian and 17 is considered unlucky in Italy. Cruise lines entertain other superstitions, like appointing godmothers to bless new vessels and ensure the safety of passengers and crew.

Typically anywhere from 30 to 40 minutes, it really depends on how far each contestant waits to accept an offer or if they go all the way…….

Correct, all you need is your seapass card, they will scan it and give you your cards, make sure to tell them you pre paid! Good luck!

Thanks for the comment, Celebrity food is definitely a “step up” from MSC in terms of presentation and quality, however Celebrity is much more expensive than MSC. The food (my experience) on MSC was good to very good, and the buffet food was also good. I had no bad experiences when in MSC!

I found it kind of fun actually, at no time did I ever feel unsafe……there was a lot of rocking motion when we hit bigger waves, but since I don’t get sea sick there were no issues for me, during the tour while walking around I noted many do mot disturb signs in stateroom doors…….i am sure you will be fine. Bring seasick pills just in case!

Great detailed video ! Helpful to know about those window sensors too. May I ask if you keep your window down, but close those opaque bi-fold doors, will the AC turn off ? I enjoy the sounds of the ocean while I drift off to sleep and wake up in the morning, however I do know that leaving the window down will turn off the AC and steam up the room's mirror. It would be GREAT if the remedy to this is to have the bi-fold doors shut but can still hear the ocean and still have AC too 🙂, Cheers !!! marcia

I did a review of the solo room on the Beyond, and did a live demonstration the AC was working with the window open. The issue in the Caribbean is the AC cannot keep up, even with the bi fold doors closed. That is the main issue with the infinite veranda……check out my review on the beyond solo room if you want to see the demo…….thanks for commenting and your feedback…….

One thing that stood out to me was the filming you did while there were people drinking and enjoying themselves on the ship. All the other videos I've seen are nice, but they record in the early morning hours when the venues are almost empty. I know they do that so they're not interrupted while filming, but I like getting the vibe of the place with people present. You captured that. For an older ship, it doesn't look outdated at all and looks very clean. Thank you for taking the time to record this for us. I'm taking my very first cruise, and it's on this ship, so you did a nice job of keeping new travelers informed. Well one sir!

I just got back from the Celebrity Edge 19-26 but we couldn't get very close to the glacier because of fog. It's okay though because the scenery was gorgeous. Thanks for your videos Bussman - you helped me prepare for my amazing trip. I loved every single moment of my wonderful trip on the Edge.
