Well, that was fascinating. Not the railway scenes but the camera capturing them. I wasn't sure about the use of a fish-eye lens at first, but it was the control of the camera that really got to me. I've never come across that type of control. Put me out of my misery and reveal all, please.

In the latter days of council run buses, Bradford city transport, Sheffield city transport, and one or maybe two others, Yorkshire Woolen District, and maybe West Riding all teamed up to run Bradford, Barnsley, Mexborough Sheffield joint services. The only buses I ever saw covering the service was Sheffield and a red one! I don’t think Bradford ever fully got involved. But then as is my want, I may be wrong. I very often am wrong. I don’t know how it happens, it just happens! Hundreds of years from now people will talk about just how I got things wrong. I will be famous over getting it all wrong. Even more famous than I am now, and I got that wrong too! Cheers!

@@transportinterests5371 LOL Well you are right there was an agreement made, I did know Bradford was a part of it but for sure the others were Yorkshire Woollen had 15 drivers on route 23 which took me to work and that service began running through to Manchester via Oldham. they also ran to Sheffield via Barnsley, I am not sure if the same 15 drivers did that route as well but my friend did both. They got a 6 wheeler double deck for the Sheffield route. West Riding also ran to Sheffield, I think hourly alternating with Yorkshire Woollen. They had a few Alexanda bodied semi coaches which were used on both routes and somewhere I have a tachograph disc my friend gave me from the Sheffield route, the driver, not him, was going 100mph on the M1 the tacho was off the scale. Those busses had a split differential which was left fixed in high ratio making them sluggish but boy could they get some speed on a good road.

Need to do a bit of research 14x family and onwards to mk3 body shell inspired dmu saved the railways in mid 80s from implosion just like first gen dmus in 60s. But your correct a stopgap that was more like full life train
@cedarcam
@cedarcam 21 күн бұрын
@@grahamallen1970The Derby research centre also designed a coach based on a bus body, one was built but not a success. It was a time when investment in the railways was very low even though new stock was very much needed. To be fair the pacer did save cuts in service and were quite reliable, I don't remember many breakdowns. it was door problems that caused failures. Later on after their proposed life span they began to fail more and get confined to our local area and a few running on GWR. The Mk3 type body shell have been a lot better and BR really could of done with a bit more cash to build more of those instead.

So there we were, minding our own beeswax, driving in our little car, plodding about performing touristy type pastimes and tasks, innocently enjoying ourselves while on holiday in our little caravan, in the delights of Dorset in 1995. Yes, we were alone and by ourselves, without our two beautiful little girls who by now we’re finding their own feet and not wanting to tour with mummy and daddy anymore. So it was just us two, enjoying the peace and quiet of the delightful English countryside, frolicking in our little car along the winding and sometimes very narrow, but ever so pretty country roads, occasionally glimpsing over the high hedgerows to catch sight of tranquil vistas of hay meadows and fields of crops and sheep and cattle and the soft and gentle sounds of the modern Challenger 2 British Army tank as it fires volleys of exploding shells across a sweet glade of daffodils and buttercups and daisies. More on this story later in the show.

This was our last trip abroad in the caravan. We drag a caravan to the South of France for fun! How did we do? Two weeks in the sun! Very nice you know! All costs are included in the video. The quality of the video is a tad naff! It was originally assemble edited on a vhs video recorder with some assistance from BBC Micro. All the costings,how much we spent, are added during the closing shots of the video and make interesting comparisons with today.
