the force awakens was a fine start to a new saga. any of the plot holes and weaknesses depended on how the next movie was. and of course the last jedi destroyed the franchise. and to be perfectly honest, i think ryan jonson did it on purpose.

In my opinion,the sequels are not canon and will NEVER be! I bet I could come up with a better story than what THEY came up with! Here is my Idea: A Scout trooper in one of the remaining Imperial Strong Holds. He is a younger trooper. About 18-21 years old. He finds out that he is force sensitive. He leaves the Empire and surrenders to the new Republic because he can't take the craziness of being in some holdout with dwindling supplies and agrees to peacefully surrender to the New Republic. Luke was visiting a POW camp and senses the Scout Troopers connection to the force and convices the new Republic to let him Train him. After one week of training. The Scout Trooper ask Luke how to deal with pressure, fear and the darkness of someone's past. Luke Skywalker teaches him a little bit on how to control your fear. The Scout Trooper explains that his friends are still in the Holdouts and he wants to save them. Luke agrees with the Idea. Him and luke board and Stolen Imperial Carrier Ship and head to the holdout on the planet Gosoine (Gos o ine.) The Scout Trooper put his armor back on and heads to the Holdout with Luke. He finds the people there and gives one of the best speeches in Staf Wars to convince them to leave with them. They agree and head back to ship to leave. Suddenly,as they are walking to it,the ship explodes. After that,the Ex Imperial tech at the Holdout tells luke that he can use the coms there to call for another ship to pick them up. After luke does,they stay there for about a week. During the week, some of the tech people go missing. They find out that someone is taking them. After setting someone up for bait for their trap. They Find them on a ship that is about to take off. Luke uses the force to pull it down carefully. He opens the doors with the force and some fighter droids come out and fight like and those swords General Grevious' Guards had. Luke defeats them and frees the would be kidnapping victim. They find out that someone is using project vulture. It is a last ditch Imperial attempt to create an Droid army for the Last Imperials. They then go to rest. The ship arrives and they leave. As they are preparing to go into hyperdrive. Some Tie fighters come from the planet and attack the Transport ship they are on. The Captain tells luke that they have a old x wing on the ship and that luke can use it. Luke does that and takes down the Tie Fighters. But to his surprise,there was another ship,and it landed inside their transport ship. Now the Exp Imperials and the Crew have to fight off a lot of Droids. The droids start to overwhelm the Soldiers in the Hangar. But then, Luke Flys his x wing in and runs over some of the droids,jumps out,inites his lighsaber, chuckles and says:"Just like my father before me." Then goes crazy on the droids and destroys them. After all of the Droids are defeated,they leave and head back to the planet. Before they jump into Hyperdrive,the Scout Trooper says: "I thought I would never see hope again!" Luke replies with: "Hope was always here,you just didn't see it." He then taps the Scout Trooper on the Solider and the Scout Trooper says: "Your right,now lets get out of here!" Then Everyone on the ship cheers and then they take off. THE END. The name of the Movie is: STAR WARS: HOPE RETURNS

The 'Holdo Maneuver' was not a plot hole. It was a f*cking UNIVERSE HOLE.

He wanted to be a new hope..... I think he shattered any sense of hope that we had within the text crawl, a new bleak outlook would be more apt, it's shocking how bad something can be with such tremendous resources, I'll never understand how making a good movie isn't the safest economic bet. So what if they tried to make a good movie and failed, but not trying at all is absurd. I wonder if they're happy with themselves, like the movies all profited and despite the pure stench of evil that wafts off of them, they did what they set out to do. Like I don't think Disney can be classified as an entertainment company, their media is pure happenstance at this point

I find it highly interesting (or concerning depending on how anyone reads into this) that my 2 favorite franchises. Sonic and Star Wars respectively. Had basically a gigantic Identity Crisis at roughly the same time. With Sonic it was Forces and with Star Wars it was the Rise of Skywalker. Both have plotholes, inconsistencies, and both HEAVILY nostalgia pander. And its weird cause aside from a single cutscene from back in 2008, Sonic and Star Wars literally have nothing in common. The only difference I can currently see between the two as far there managed though, is that SEGA is listening to fan criticism (sometimes to their detriment) while Disney could give a crap about what the fans want these days. And unironically the one of the two that I just mentioned thats bouncing back is, surprise, Sonic. I dont know, I guess I'm just glad that Sonic has always been my go-to when it comes to franchises cause honestly, Disney has really screwed over Star Wars fans with the Sequels and lots of their current stuff. So much so that I've honestly kind of moved away from Star Wars despite growing up with it most of my life. I wish Disney would at least listen to their fans like SEGA and Nintendo and other big Franchise owners tend to do nowadays. At least we would finally have something more worth our while when it comes to this Galaxy Far Far Away. Oh, and for anyone who thinks that theres no comparison here. I would just like to respectfully (I'm not trying to be rude with any of my statements just wanted to let everyone know) let you all know that Forces ( the game I mentioned previously) happened in 2017. Meaning Sonic and Star Wars had identity crises almost BACK-TO-BACK. I would hate to be the guy that was a part of both fandoms at the time. Oh wait......😅😅😅😅😅

I still firmly standby the opinion that it was Rian Johnson who was responsible for massively derailing and ruining this trilogy. Yes the Force awakens wasn't perfect, and it was basically a copy of a new hope, but at the same time it did introduce us to some new and interesting characters, it raised some interesting questions, and laid the ground for what could have been a great second and third movie. Then ol' Rian came along... With his jokes and tropes and bs, and so much went wrong

I remember watching Last Jedi on day one and the theater was packed. At the very end, I heard several people scream during first credits "What the hell did we just watch!" and during Rey saying she's a Skywalker everyone moaned. I was curious and the next day while taking my nephew to a kid movie, i peeked in and the theater was literally empty for last jedi the next day. On Facebook, twitter, and even youtube, tons of reviews and posts were bashing it demanding fans not to go see it. The movie absolutely ruined the entire Sage and lore. The last 3 movies were pure trash but Last Jedi is trash on a whole new level we have never seen.

The sequels are just a repeat of episodes 4, 5, and 6. A young, poorer person who has not mother or father (Luke and Ray) meet a droid with an important piece of information (bb8 and R2D2). Along the way they meet someone in a lot of trouble (Finn and Han). They sneak into enemy territory where they then witness the death of a new friend and mentor of theirs (Obi-Wan and Han) who killed by people who were close to them but were seduced by the dark side. Still in pain from losing their friend, the young soon to be Jedi visits a new world and meet a former Jedi who has lost hope (Yoda and Luke). This older Jedi refuses to train them at first but then after much persistence, agrees. After realizing something shocking, the young soon to be jedi leaves on a mission. The young soon to be jedi faces down against their rival (Darth Vader and Kylo Ren). While they are on this mission, their friends are also on a mission and get caught by someone wishing for money (Boba fett and that weird code breaking theif guy) from the empire. Eventually, their mentor dies making them the last Jedi. The new Jedi then meets their rival and fights them until convincing their rival to betray their master and help them win. In the end, their rival (Darth Vader and Kylo Ren) dies trying to kill their master

Maybe we could reshoot the movies, with a cool scenario (and holograms of Carrie Fisher), or shoot another trilogy who shows what happened just after Episode 6 (with younger actors who are lookalikes of Luke, Han and Leia) ? If it's impossible, we could just consider that Star Wars Legends is now the logic sequel.

The people that like the new movies aren't actual Star wars fans and more than likely they used to make fun of us for liking Star Wars. They never nerded out and dove deep into the stories and lore. They probably watched each movie maybe one time. Real hardcore fans especially those of us who read the books hate the new movies.

Star Wars sequels are like when Stan thinks everything is shit in South Park. Disney will shit in your eyes, ears, and mouth. Seriously, the Sequels won't get a Renaissance like the Prequels.The sequels had no plan, no story, nothing. TFA is a rehash of ANH, so it spends 33% of the trilogy repeating, TLJ tore the saga apart and beloved characters and ROS was just pathetic and establish Palpatine is immortal and can keep coming back forever and increasing his force poers forever. They did not expand the saga. Disney trashed it, in a ways the Prequels could never do, in its entirety. The Sequels add zero positives. Kylo an Rey were terrible characters. Finn and Poe ended up being useless. Luke, Han, Leia and Chewie, R2 and C3PO. Ruined. The Sequels added nothing to the point that their no additional content in that era. It is nearly the same amount of time between as ROTS and TFA as TFA as now. No content from Sequel has been made, but more content from the Prequels era and Empire era and Post Empire era has been made. Sequels were a mess.

As far as I'm conserned the sequels are at the absolute bottom of anny movie' show or some kinde of referance or comerciall and they don't even deserve to be on the list. The kids who grewup with these may just claim those who hate the sequels just grewup un the classics and prequels so that's why we dislike them. No I don't like how the sequels treeted past charecters and the story riting is allover the place with no real conection plus charecters have no growthe. Rey is perfect from the first movie and such. At least Anikin had to train to use his powee and he suffered some loss to get his skkill. I know a bad movie when I see one and it's not because I have a diferant view on starwars. I gave the movies ( actually the first two oneley) a chance and made up my minde these are not for me.

Gee, you go pretty easy on the sequels. They are a complete train wreck. The Force Awakens was a decent film I thought, but it needed a strong follow-up film like Empire Strikes Back, but unfortunately what we got instead was in my opinion, the worst film ever made. The Last Jedi is a sacrilegious, unmitigated cinematic disaster. It's just so bad that it would take hours to dissect every onerous aspect of it to explain why. Your attempt was noble, but incomplete. As far as Rise of Skywalker goes, I did have some sympathy for JJ Abrams trying to clean up the defecated mess that Rian Johnson had left him with. In the end, it was too much of a monumental task and the sequel series was at that point as it turns out, unsalvageable. Star Wars is dead for me, or at least the Disney led era of it. I personally don't count any of their films as part of the cannon of Star Wars, except for Rogue 1 which I thought was a good film and did justice and respected the story that George Lucas created. Perhaps the only positive to come out of the sequel trilogy was a renewed appreciation for the prequel trilogy which I thought was really good and although not as good as the original trilogy, I could never understand the antipathy towards it.

The most worrying thing, that the studio signed it off for release. Kathleen Kennedy fucks everything in the name of diversity. Terrible

Tbf the shot shooting through the ship looked cool. The trilogy was a lot of sweet nothing really. Design team went hard, everything else just kinda sucked. Although, Kylo is actually a pretty decent character, his ending was just pretty dumb.
