Is the Flute an harmonic one (double lenght)? From the back shots it seems to see harmonic holes onthe back of the pipes... Wonderful instrument and restoration!

This is the first Grandezza I have heard that has expression. I am no expert, but am just going through a phase of listening to them on KZbin. I notice there is one for sale in an auction so looking them up. Does this one have a mandolin rail. Fabulous music arrangement & instrument.

Does the right hand-side piano pedal play by itself?? I saw that the weber unika piano pedal did play by itself.

The half-blow rail is split, bass and treble. Each side is operated independently by the roll to give full blow and half blow for treble and bass. There is also a pneumatic regulator for the bass side of the piano. The sustain is operated by the roll also. The treble notes on the piano can be silenced to give a violin solo.

I noticed this amazing machine is without pedals, and does it have a manual over ride so that it can be played like a piano? It looks like an amazing restoration from the 1800s. Fascinating......thanks for posting 🤩

Thanks. If it doesn't play automatically, you can play the piano by hand as usual (only the piano, not the xylophone). This orchestrion was built in Germany in 1923.

What I can't figure out is why that is even there. This is NOT even a COVID oriented video. It is something with KZbin algorithm that caused this to happen. Maybe that mechanism at 3:16 looks like a shot being injected to it for all I know?

Also, I notice the number “141” marked in the case on the side next to the pump sticks for the suction pump. Would that have been the original Waldkirch Gavioli/Limonaire opus number? I thought I read somewhere that the Waldkirch Gavioli branch was thought to have produced only about 50 organs total, (some of which have a French number, usually in the 8,000s, either instead of, or in addition to, a 2-digit German number). Could “141” be this works number ? That would indicate this factory had produced at least that many organs by 1908. (I have no idea how many more the factory made after being taken over by Limonaire, through about 1914).
@andrewbarrett1537
@andrewbarrett1537 2 жыл бұрын
Out of curiosity, did Gebruder Bruder put on a 4-digit factory number when they converted the organ to roll operation and modified the scale? They tended to number not only all their new organs, but also rebuilds of organs made both by them and by others, all in the same series. Since this was a late job and a roll player, the number would be in the 5000s somewhere. I’d love to know this number if it was found in restoration (still on a component somewhere), so I can add it in a note to the Gebruder Bruder opus list I’m working on. Thanks!

Thanks for your nice comments. There was no Gebr. Bruder number found. The only number is 141 which means the Limonaire factory number. Here you find further informations about this organ in German: musica-mechanica.de/media/PDF/Restaurierung_Fuchs.pdf

That isn’t a Helios, not sure if it is Hupfeld, but it’s certainly not a Helios. Helioses are cabinet designs often with a picture on the front and no keyboard. EDIT: I have been corrected, this is indeed a Helios. I know much more information now then I did when I made this comment.

Hupfeld Helios Orchestrions were produced in many different models from small keyboard style to very big cabinet style instruments. Most of them (like that one in this video) use the same 77 keyless Helios roll.
