Adding to this: External modifications such as perms, heat application etc. have no effect on genetics. The hair that grows out of your scalp will remain true to your genetics. There are times when your genetics and age can alter hair types and characteristics such as colour, coarseness, fineness, thickness, density, straight or curliness etc. hope this helps answer your inquiry as well.

Have you ever tried getting a wet wrap? Basically you wrap your hair all around your head in a wet state and sit under a hardcase hair dryer. Since your hair is very straight as you wash it now, I think you would get the same results minus the blowdrying.
@naturalnadinee13 күн бұрын
Ohh now I’ve actually never tried that! That does sound like something that would actually work really well! Do you reckon it’s less heat than a round brush too?🤔 xx
@kriseme473413 күн бұрын
I think so. Adding perhaps a cream heat protectant, perhaps a setting lotion add, then wrapping the hair with white wrapping paper for the hair and put a hairnet on to keep it together. I used to get it done all the time at the salon before I came out of my perm and went curly natural. Your hair looks great. 😍 ❤️

If my scalp is dry can I apply the oil directly or would my hair need to be hydrated before applying the oil ? I’m a curly natural wanting to switch to straight natural for length retention. It’s to my understanding that you don’t put oil on dry hair it will seal in dryness. So you hydrate with water then use oil on top. How can I do this with straight hair ?

How to moisturise your silk press on Type 4 straight natural hair | Natural Nadine kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6GXlIOvedZoi6s With regards to scalp it really depends on why your scalp is dry, if it’s just weather related then absolutely oil your scalp but also try to adress the root cause of the dryness could be your shampoo or genetics etc!

@letsgrowtogethertv25 күн бұрын
@naturalnadinee yes girl I silk press weekly lol sometimes I do a soft press which is simply turning down the heat and it's more of a fluffy silk press if that makes sense. I have no damage. For soft press I just do 370 degrees and for my normal press 390-410 my hair is too thick to just leave in a blown out state and it gets tangly. I went back to being a straight natural same time you did just for reference lol

Yeahh it gets like that sonetimes😩 if I was going somewhere nice I would 100% dry shampoo beforehand, it helps to absorb the oils and make my hair flowy again or just do a wash day, I’m at once every week 1/2 now that I only blow out but if I was silk pressing I would push it much longer 3 weeks. && I like to use mousses etc when styling but never as an alternative to leave ins xx
