Nadine I got you with the protein. My hair masks contains protein and I wash my hair every Sunday. Since I started using this hair mask, my curls and ends are at their best. It also means I don’t have todo extreme protein washes like aphogee, because my hair is getting all the protein it needs!

Thank you! & Girl I’m the same! Small amounts of protein often have really helped my hair more than doing one big treatment! I love it here 🤍🤍

I've been subscribed to your channel for some time now and my hair has greatly improved because of it. I have a Japanese straight perm and started out using k18 and olaplex products combined, which did work and had low molecular weight proteins, but they were so expensive and with little product. I switched to Lador LPP for a treatment and can use much more product and it cost SO much less. I think it even works better than my k18/olaplex combo because my hair smells even nicer and is so smooth and moisturized. I dont even have to use as maby styling products. Soon I'll be switching to majority Lador products. THANK YOU so much for sharing your knowledge with us, I really appreciate how you explain everything from your background in science. ❤

I love talking protein, lol. In addition to keratin I'm finding that hydrolyzed elastin works well on my hair too. I've been using a product from your country, Philip Kingsley Elasticizer. Love it!

Super helpful videonas someone who is starting her heat training journey after many years of natural (like yourself) and has been afraid of protien overload!!😭 I cant wait for pt2 ! Also would you do a video on like a day routine with your hair i.e best way to shower and keep it neat, or styling/hairstyles? The front of my hair is shorter from gel damage and I am trying to strengthen it! Love the content ❤️ Keep it up!

Welcome to the club girl & yes we’ve all been there fearing protein overload but definitely worth incorporating a good amount of protein in any routine & thank you I will keep this in mind!xxx

Great video. I appreciate getting the confirmation on what I've been doing, which is Olaplex every wash day (sometimes just 3, other times 0 and 3) along with protein at some step in the process, whether shampoo, deep conditioner, regular conditioner, or leave in. I'm about to do Answr keratin treatment, probably next weekend. If it is helpful and not harmful I'll probably do that every 3[6 months, depending on how long effects last. Good to know you'd put the Aphogee 2 step system in that same category. I've never tried that one.

Thank you girl! Seems like you got a good routine goinf && I have seen more and more people doing the ANSWR treatment, let me know how it goes! & yes keratin treatments always good to start with a lower frequency and also when reapplying the treatment I would probably just do the roots and not the whole head xxx

I love your content, really helped me a lot. So you talk about silicones etc being used to seal in moisture/close the cuticle. What product's would I use to put in my hair for moisture before sealing it with the silicone products. I'm currently thinking about aloe Vera water but what else would you recommend. Many thanks God bless 🙏🏽❤️

Im transitioning to a straight hair natural. I used to wear a wash and goes all the time, which I loved but now because of the cooler weather I'm switching over to straight hair. Would you recommend the Joico mask as a good protein treatment? I know that's what you use however I wanted to be sure because you were mentioning different types of protein. Thanks so much for all of your wonderful tips! 😊

I feel Protein & "Strengthening" in hair care needs to be studied better because I suspect there is an embarrassing gap between "strengthening" and real world experience. I work in chemical supply chain and an oversight I see SO often in work is a failure in accounting for the physics in chemistry. A chemist will tell people that concrete is "stronger" than wood whereas an engineer would rapidly dismiss that if the structure is a spring. It seems that in biochemistry "strengthening" is treated as an additive concept, and in engineering it's highly contextual. -> My point is that I wonder if hair that is "strengthened" comes at the cost of manageability that could diminish the benefit (or cause damage in a lot of cases). As much as I agree that the MW of the protein affects the performance, I also see it as an admission that protein is highly relative. To me, saying "everyone needs protein" is like saying everyone needs food. Yes, it's true. But IRL when you factor in obesity rates and healthy outcomes, you may find that the proper advice is to go on a diet. And then we have a catch 22 between what you "need" and what will benefit. So I often say "as needed". That said I feel like everything you said is entirely accurate so I say all this to just add to the topic as opposed to arguing

I so agree🤣 I’m a chemical engineer and would heavily fight my corner against a chemist the strength of a material to me will always be determined by Young’s modulus. Take a look at this research paper it compares the Young’s modulus of the hair with various proteins & also chemical treatments. Proteins definitely increase the tensile strength of hair but as the research paper shows it then increases brittleness and the breaking point is a lot more sharp in hair with excess protein But I agree proteins are far more complex than we talk about especially in the black haircare space we focus so much on moisture which is good but can also negate the need for protein xxx thank you for the comment I love an insightful conversation that give food for thought!xx www.researchgate.net/figure/Hair-thickness-Youngs-modulus-and-breaking-force-values-for-the-undamaged-chemically_tbl1_328509262

silicones should be in video #2. I hear they can be good or bad depending on if you hydrate first (deep conditioner). And also depends on how long between washes (the longer between washes, it’s likely to be bad since no moisture can get in).

I’ll definitely cover this in a video! I have already filmed part 2 :( but it’s true silicones can be used and abused so this is a good one! Xx

I heard you say that you use olaplex every time you wash your hair. Do you use the three products that you mentioned along with your regular wash routine products? I'm just trying to understand because I'm new to this. Thanks again!

Hello Nadine thank you for this video! If there is a little bit of protein in my shampoo and conditionner (innersense products), do I need to use something stronger in protein? I do not like how my hair feels when I am using protein treatments! Or is it possible use a protein treatment then a moisturizing deep conditionner to bring back softness to the hair? Thank you so much
@naturalnadinee
@naturalnadinee Жыл бұрын
I think it’s a good way to get protein little and often, I use a shampoo and conditioner than has protein and then a keratin deep conditioner and I don’t find I need to do strong protein treatments as much! I think you could incorporate a mask that had some protein in it too for a little extra if you’re not a fan of the heavy protein treatments xxx
