Did you go into the Mac Security Setting and allow the software as a third part software? I had to do that for a client recently.

Thanks Fred - this is really helpful- I'm trying to achieve a similar set up. My house is wired for CAT5 - I would like to have a PoE switch in the attic connecting to 7 Hikvision cameras and then a separate PoE switch in the garage with another 2 Hikvision cameras. I also have a Hikvision 16 channel NVR which is inside the house (in a different room to the main modem / switch). If everything is on the same network I'm assuming that I can connect to all the Hikvision cameras over the home network (not using any of the PoE ports on the NVR - simply the one connection to the LAN port). In your video you go in and simply change the IP address for the camera connected to the separate PoE switch. Unfortunately when I go in to Device Management it won't let me add any new cameras - all of the channels have been preconfigured and I don't see a way to edit any of them. The Video Device screen has a 'delete' option - but it is greyed out (I was thinking maybe if I delete one of the pre-configured Chanels it would free up a spot - but that doesn't seem to work). Do you have any suggestions please? Many thanks, Nick

Change the channel parameter from plug and play to manual and you should be able to edit them.

You went through a two minute introduction of why it’s important to set your sensitivity and then you said now let’s go to the video and then you repeated that entire two minute introduction so out of an eight minute video you took more than half of the time to explain what the video is about. How about a one minute introduction and then right get right to it

Thank you I am interested in how I can use 3 switches in 3 different areas to save cabling? Is there any way to plug the switch into a normal NVR Port and not the LAN port? Also the internet connection is at the NVR not at the switch

You can connect as many switches as you need to using the PoE switch uplink port. You should no use an NVR PoE port, connect the LAN of your NVR to the router and connect the cable going to PoE switch to the same router.

So my POEs are plugged into the 100 and the routers are plugged into the 1000. Does it make a difference? Should I go back up and switch the cables around?

You would have to connect the Phone wirelessly (WIFI) to the same network that NVR is on.

Thanks for this great tutorial. But I was wondering, what would be the step if we use a wireless camera/hikvision or not/ instead of the Dahua. Do we connect the wireless camera to a wireless access point and then to the NVR? or is there another way?

I use wireless bridges to extend the network the NVR is on. For instance, if I have a detached garage. I put a bridge on the house that is connected to the same router or modem as the NVR. Then, at the garage, I plug the receiving bridge into a PoE switch with a couple of cameras and manually add them to the NVR. It doesn't matter if it is a Hikvision or Dahua camera.

Thanks for the lectrures. I have a question, 1) you downloaded and installed iVMS-4200 . 2) How about to add your Hikvision NVR or cameras to the software, you need to be on the same network or have remote access set up for your NVR? The process is Two: 1) d=Downlaod and installation of IVMS-4200. 2) Connection to NVR OR CAMERAS. Pls explain the Second part.

Do you know if there is a fix yet to enable the Start All camera icon (play button) in the Live View? I see you had to start the view of an IP camera individually. With analogue cameras you could start all cameras in the view but having moved to IP cams the start all feature no longer works.
