I am new to the XT NATION. Recently aquired 2 of them, a 1980 model and a 1978 model. Both run good despite sitting in the desert in Texas U.S.A. for 5 and 12+ years respectively. Am in the slow process of making both of them reliable riders. Already have a possible buyer for the 1980 bike. The 1978 is so complete it will remain mine for a few years. Thanks for the vid, even though l am late in seeing it.

Very nice, did you do any high speed roads e.g. highway? If so, did you modify anything to make it work better ? Im looking to get one but hearing the bike does not great on highway's is holding me back a bit.

ja.... so wird eine XT 500 gestartet, den Kickstarter treten bis nichts mehr geht, dann den Dekompressionshebel ziehen, den Kickstarter 5-10 cm weiter treten, danach einfach anlassen, (nicht mit dem Schauglas! kann fatale folgen haben!)

ab und an mal findet man eine bei mobile oder motoscout. allerdings kosten die R75 und Ks750 zwischen 30000 und 40000 tausend.

@@ChristianMX449 Die sind meistens schrecklich. Man kann nie genau Wissen, was in der Maschine original ist, und was nicht. Wenn man eine originale haben möchte, sollte der Käufer deutlich tiefer in sein Portemonnaie schauen als 40 oder 50 Tausend Euro .... PS: Zum Beispiel werden sehr oft kleinere Teile wie Zahnräder aus dem Getriebe nach produziert, und als echt verkauft usw. Niemals aus dem Ostblock Teile ersteigern.

Una de las mejores motos que he conocido en mi vida.Un tanque...pese a que se mató un amigo en ella,no he dejado de apreciarla.Llevo 41 años arriba de las motos ,casi toda mi vida,tengo muchos amigos fallecidos y siento que me ido quedando un poco solo.Pero sigo adelante con las motos.Arriba XT 500.

It only makes about 20KW but has loads of torque. You can also view "My Yamaha XT500 Movie". I actually prefer the Honda XL500.

Hello, I just recently got a 1977 xt500, I actually live north of Austin. But do you know how much these things are worth? Mine doesn't run as of now but it does have compression, it's missing a few thing. Just wondering were I can get parts and stuff at. Thanks.

so einen fetten grinser hab ich auch im gesicht wenn ich mit nem wehrmachtskrad unterwegs bin. ausserdem respekt für die weltreise, aber auch dafür kann ich mir kein besseres motorrad vorstellen...
